Post subject: Best & Worst Buildings In Hartlepool!!!!
PostPosted: Fri Jan 19, 2007 2:38 pm
My 2 Favourite buildings in Hartlepool are....

2. The Co-Op Stores!!!! :sweet:
I just hope they don't rip it's heart out with the re-development but at least it's getting done up!!!! :sweet:

1. Christ Church - Church Square!!!! :sweet:
I just love the building....ever since I was a kid!!!! :sweet:

The worst building in Hartlepool without a doubt is....

Titan House - A slab of grey concrete that should be pulled down!!!!

If you think about what stands out, you think Steetly Chimney, the floodlights at pools, and the Heerama Building on the headland.

I used to have this fascination with industrial landscapes. I though the SDSI North Works were fab!

How many other towns can you think of without any high rise buildings? I agree with blowing up titan house by the way, its never been the same since they shut the cafe!

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the current chimney the second one to occupy that spot, the original version being skinnier, shorter, and grimier?

Talking about chimneys does Durham Paper Mills still stand?

UGLY...

1. The Engineers Club.

2. The pink paint on the College of Art.

3. Giving pubs crap makeovers and crap names.

4. Every house on a new estate with a UPVC conservatory.

5. The Central library and the idiot who put the Reference section directly above he kids play area.

6.That big ugly gap behind the Mail office right in a prime location.

7. The horrible blank wall behind the war memorial.

8. How many pizza and kebab shops do we need...?

9. Nasty little retail units stuck on the green spaces in the marina.

ATTRACTIVE besides the obvious candidates.....

1.The little pockets of buildings around Whitby Street that remind me of being a kid.

2.St Oswalds church.

3. The group of old houses on the Town Wall.

4. The war memorial on the headland.
