"They had a photographer all set up and no customers. It must be bad enough for Miller to play on a weekend in front of no one than give up your spare time to sit around and no one bothering."

Once again, that 'big' town has shown it doesn't want a League club.

You have a short memory Mr Dunn. Though Asda would have been a better choice.

I popped into Tesco's on the way home and picked up the EXCELLENT new Pools book. A healthy queue of Poolies had formed around H'Angus, Gary Liddle, Ritchie Jones and Peter Hartley with copies of the book flying out..must have been 50-60 copies sold in the 20 minutes I was in there. Marvellous.

On the way home I received a text from my Darlington spy. It told me that at 4.30pm Darlington FC opened their new Club Shop in the Town Centre. Two, yes TWO people had turned up. Nobody bought anything. I assumed he was taking the pee..until I read this..

Close The Shutters, Willy's Dead.

That was a great turnout and I dont think the club could have wished for a better turnout, brilliant absolutley brilliant!

Laughed my head off at that one! Good lads all three of them, like you say a massive turnout..did they sell all the boxes of books? Looked on the cards when I left.

Think there was about 4 or 5 books left!

On a totally unrelated note i've always felt pools should have a shop in the town centre, maybe not all year round but especially over christmas time, just to pick up on the impulse trade, bit like hmv have this year.

There are plenty of empty units at the moment, wouldnt even need any work doing on them, stationary box is still free, that would be a decent size.

Pools probs miss out on a canny bit of trade over christmas with them being a bit "out the way".

I'm not sure it was unofficial or not but i seem to remember about circa 1994 there was some little stall near where the old electric house used to be, northern electric i think, where poundworld is now.

Anyway this stall, or like a cart type thing, sold loads of well cheap pools gear, i remember i got the dark blue pools kit, the last one with the old badge featuring the stag, i got the shirt and the shorts, and that was around christmas time as i'm certain the old girl wrapped it up as a present.

Ironically i just bought that shirt off ebay a few weeks ago for about 6 quid, the material is well heavy, wore it for 5-a-side once and i was bucking boiling after about 2 minutes.

If Compo isn't boasting about having a new car, he's boasting about being petite and slender. It's always something, with him.

I never boast, well only if you want me to , I wish I was slender on a diet to loose half a stone and get back under 10.
