PSG v Marseille??? They are over 400 miles apart. With that sort of journalish I couldn't be bothered to even read the article.

True but the match is more like a derby than any others in France. They hate each other for the traditional Paris v the south reason but also because OM have a multi-cultural following (lots of fans with dreadlocks, North African roots, big spliff heads etc) while PSG have a big Nazi following as well as a high degree of whiteness for a big city club. It is just about the only match in France where feelings run high by UK standards so it's the best derby choice despite the distance.

Went to TFC v Girondins Bordeaux, which is the south-west France derby between the capitals of two old kingdoms. Cracking atmosphere, big ultra- banner displays and a good match with some actual tackles but lacked the undertones of hatred that you get at real derbies. Some hardcore wine taunts were going on, you don't get many of those at British matches!

Another one where they aren't too close but it would count in my book. Remember Luis Figo and that pig's head, it was an offal incident.

Haven't been to any of those but on March 18th 1990, me and a mate went to see the Milan Derby.
Fantastic Stadium, the top tier of the ground (built in time for the World Cup) hadn't opened, but the atmosphere was still incredible. Milan were in there late 80's/early 90's prime and we'd gone to support them, however Internazionale ended up winning 3-1. Inter were the home team and had the 2 side of the stadium and Milan had one end, and we were right at the back of of this section. We seemed so high up and so close to the pitch it felt like the stand was vertical! The whole concrete structure was vibrating which was weird at first. Pleased to say that we saw some great players that day, Van Basten, Rijkaard, Klinnsman and Mathaeus to name just four. (Gullit was out injured but saw him getting off the team bus which i was chuffed about as he was one of my heroes at the time). After the match we had to run the gauntlet of the Inter fans as they were chucking all sorts of stuff down from the stadium as the Milan fans left.
Just to round off the day we then went and wrote off our hire car by getting in the way of a large yellow tram. (and no, I wasn't driving)

I was talking to a *cough* Hartlepool Mag who'd went to watch Newcastle in the San Siro. He said the Inter fans were animals who showered them from the top tier with bottles of piss for the entire match. I was secretly feeling all warm inside whilst he was telling me this, I even might have even had a semi on, their was deffo blood in it.

I've had a soft spot for the San Siro ever since.

I went to watch England in Rome and what a bunch of animals they were, we were pelted all match with bottles of frozen water, bottles of piss, coins taped together and seats. They were running up to the fence where the coppers stood and they just let them get on with it but if anybody picked anything up to chuck back they got a batton over there head

TFC Versus Bordeaux has had some tasty moments in the past. I remember getting pelted with bottles at Parc Lescure twice a few year back. Fookin animals, but nowhere near as bad as the Boulogne Boys at PSG, or the Bad Gones at Lyon.

Worst ever 'Derby' has to be Lille Vs Lens. Atmosphere every bit as bad as Celtic/Rangers games i've been to over the years. S-hittyfying!

Have to say I fancy watching a good derby somewhere else other than this country. I reckon one of them Istanbul ones would be good
