If we applied this 'punching above their weight', 'in a false position' or the ever popular 'over achieving' bollox, then every team would stay just where it's at, no relegation, no promotion, because we'd all have our place in the pecking order and stuck with it.

They team that has the most points is at the top, the team with the least the bottom, now thats rocket science

wherever we are at the end of the season he is right. if we were to be relegated it's because we havnt earned enough points therefore its not a false position, if we ended up in the playoffs then weve earned enough points to be in that position so how on earth is that false?

i would say our start to the season was similar, relatively speaking.

If Burnley won their first 2 games they would not be the best team in the league, however they would be top, have 6 points and therefore be in the correct position. How can this be argued with?

What matters is the position at the end of the season, no one can argue with that. What pisses me off, is when teams do actually achieve promotion etc and are still told they're punching above their weight. They earned it, it's theirs by right.
The only thing that matters is the table at the end of the season and the points achieved, it never says 'promoted, but punching above their weight' .

After eighteen games last season we were exactly where we are now....12th.....we had one more point than we have now and had scored 22 goals at home as against eight this season. We had won three away, same as this season.
We were still in the cup at this point last season, we had also beaten West Brom in the league cup.
Yet in a fortnight we were to part with our manager. A man who had been allowed to bring in three players.
Does that mean we will be parting company with Turner in a fortnight??????????

no because turner isnt secretly organising a deal to become swindon town manager like that other geezer allegedly was.
