Hi all. Forgive me if you already know about this. There's a new unofficial Hartlepool United anthem called "Victoria!". Some people love it. Some people hate it - but I'm hoping that with time they'll be converted. Played over the tannoy at the Vic, it could prove to be inspirational. The effect of the loud banging drums may be lost a bit with some computer speakers - if you have the chance to connect up to a hi-fi with decent bass speakers you'll get a much better impression of the power in the recording. The club have been sent a CD of it and may be more likely to play it at home games if they receive e-mails or faxes requesting it. I'm therefore asking for your support. If you like this anthem and/or can see its potential as a rabble-rousing call-to-arms for Poolies and the team, why not e-mail or fax John Orley (Pools' announcer) at the club and ask him to play it? The only thing I can think of which woud improve my enjoyment even more would be if you were to play "Victoria!" by the Separation Circle just for me. Yours admiringly in eager anticipation."

"Dear John. I am a committed Darlo fan. I am writing to plead with you to NEVER EVER play "Victoria!" by the Separation Circle at Monkey Hangers' home games simply because I know that the inspiration it will give to fans and team will surely make them an invincible force. I am Quaking in my boots. Yours quakily."

"Dear John. I have heard rumours of an orchestrated campaign to get "Victoria!" by the Separation Circle played at home matches. I personally do not believe a word of them. Please would you play "Victoria!" by the Separation Circle for me at the next home match. Yours sincerely."

I've not heard it and I've not heard of the cd being on sale anywhere?

I have absolutely no musical ability, but I could come up with something better than that. I presume it didn't get any better after the first minute, that's all I could force myself to listen to.

It's Keith Allen's latest attempt isn't it? On the positive side it has potential although it needs a few very minor adjustments: A bit of echo, change the words and music. Perhaps a different vocalist and it could be a hit.

Far better than the Monkey Hangerz effort. I'd like 10 copies please. Excellent.

i actually cant even describe how bad it is OO, imagine the worst football song ever, then add to that thought the worst song you've ever heard.

Granted i appreciate anyone who makes efforts to raise the profile of the club, but at least make a decent stab at it!!

but it made me think, why have they never played the Kinks Victoria at Pools? It's a good song that.

I think the song choices before the match have proved that footballers, to a man, have a dismal taste in music.

The song is so bad, I feel that the only words in the English language which best show how awful this song is are these.

It's their choice though isn't it .. the key words being 'their choice' and your taste is just that ...'your taste'.... not the standard, just one choice among millions. Mind, Robbie Williams is dire unless you're a woman of a certain age or have hairdressing tendencies.
As for the original subject...it made me retch .... in my ears.
