Don't piss about with pokey shite like you've mentioned.

For that price you'll get a 3 or 4 year old Audi A3 or BMW 1 series, or a 2 or 3 year old Honda Civic. Much better buy than a newer cheapy tat car like a Ford or Vauxhall.

DON'T BUY ANYTHING FRENCH- no Peugeot, Renault or Citrot. They are the worst of the worst especially their small models.

reason I want a new one is my car mot etc is due this month and rather than spend money getting it through that would rather get a new one. I am not paying for it my aunty is and I am just paying it off monthly with no interest therefore saving me money, also if its new wont have to pay for mot for 3 years and I only need a little car to get me to work.

I been looking at the honda jazz and yaris, and think it will come down to who offers me the best deal for my car part ex. The astra looks ok like

But better quality cars very rarely need money spending on them to get them through their MOT.

The best I've had for that level of reliability, even better than all of the Audis I've had, was Mrs R's Honda Civic that she used to have. If you want reliability buy a Honda, never had to spend owt on it in four years apart from petrol and tyres and it was three years old when we got it. They're not as solid or as comfortable as the Nazi motors but by God are they reliable.

My mother is on her second Yaris, thinks they're great and never had any bother out of either of them.

But they are without any shadow of a doubt a bird's car to be driven only by birds and fags.

Only cos its new wont mean it wont break down. I agree with Ripper, get a decent car about 3 or 4 year old. I drive a 10 year old car that doesnt break down and very rarely needs anything doing to it.

Yaris and Clios are girls cars.

Personally id rather stick pins in my eyes than pay £9k for a new generic car.

Our lass has got a Honda Jazz and it's very good. Very economical and feels quite solid for a small car. The main advantage for us is that we can fit the bairn plus all his worldly goods in it as it is like a Tardis inside.

So it you are thinking of starting a family, or have lots of things to drive around I'd get one.

I really would avoid Citroens, Peugots, Renaults, and Fiats. That comes from personal experience plus my mate who has been a mechanic for 18 years and does some vehicle trading on the side. Not only are they not very good quality, they suffer very high depreciation.

You get what you pay for, and I would go for a German or Japanese one all day.

well to be honest I dont really care as long as I get a new car, I obviously want the best deal but its my auntys call as she is buying it for me, beggars cant be choosers.

Also just looked to see when mot is due and it is now so not sure if they will take it on part ex so i may as well just mot it then look around for the best deal before the vat increase

Any car used as part of the scrappage scheme has to be registered in the name of the person buying the new car for at least the previous 12 months.

You have been warned about by Citrots before, but hey-ho I suppose the only way you will learn is if you buy one of the tinny wankmobiles!

Gonna buy a car soon, but for the first time, it won't be a new one. New cars are a complete rip off.

at the end of the day, I am getting a car for nowt so dont give a crap what it is wont be paying interest through higher purchase and will only pay aunty back when I can. I think £2000 for my car is a very good deal. I live about 5 miles from my daytime job and about 20 from my nighttime job so if i do get the c2 on saturday i am sure it will be ok. I am having a look at the mazda 2 though.

The issue isn't really what you get for your car, more what you decide on as your next purchase.

If you are happy with a tinny piece of cack with poor reliability and depreciation which makes Germany's 1920s inflation look minor then that's your call innit.

Just remember, if you buy something cack now with a loan you'll need to replace it before you've finished paying for it.
