So, Our crimebusting, grotspot campaigner has now recommended that Jacksons landing would make an ideal venue for a casino.

Dont we have enough betting establishments in the town sctatchinghead

There's hardly any money in the town as it is, but I suppose a gambling establishment is an easy alternative.

Why cant the place be turned into something for which kids could use sctatchinghead

There's foook all for kids as it is without turning a decent building into something most of the town wont even use.

There's casinos in Middlesbrough etc... if people really want to go.

Get your thinking head on man!!!!

Im sure it was one of the sites considered for a temp Ice Rink when the Bombers were looking to re home while the forum is re developed. Would have been a smart move in my eyes. Hartlepool would have got a ice rink in place while having a recongised Ice Hockey team playing out of the venue for two years and that would have helped the opening of a new rink. Didnt happen though and we have no rink for two years violin

An ice rink would be a fantastic improvement to the town.

However no betting or drinking goes on in ice rinks, therefore its a non starter.

Mind, they could always sell greggs pasties and fanta.

This foooking town. A clueless council and a clueless mayor stpid

I went to the casino at teesside park, best night out in ages.

restaurant, massive bar, get 10 quid free on the gamblies, brilliant, and i am not a betting man!

It would be a brilliant leisure centre or like a new arcades type thing.

Whats that place called in newcastle thats indoors with all the bars and restaurants and stuff and a weatherspoons, thats pretty smart, right next to tiger tiger bar, cant think of it now.

It could be many things but the last thing the town needs is a casino.

I agree with Mutley. A music venue would also be great.

Not foooking Hartlepool Chavino!!!

Music venue - ice rink - swimming pool - theate - sports facility of any kind - multi purpose conference centre that could host music, boxing, snooker, comedy, darts etc would be far better than having a casino there......

Yeah it's been going.

but who still actually goes there?

i can't say ice skates are the number 1 christmas present on every kids shopping list.

The gym, swimming pool, 5-a-side court and fitness classes kept that place going.

It could be an ice rink and an events( concerts etc) venue. All you do is cover the ice up.

Is there any reason why it can't be all of the above and accomodate the needs of everyone? It could easily be expanded I am sure if space is a problem.

A complex like this would be very popular I am sure.

lets face it if someone wanted to turn it into an ice rink they have had plenty of opportunity to do so, its been lying empty for years.

Isn't it the Mayors job (and also the councils) to attract investment to the town which includes getting someone to do up jacksons landing as well as sorting out other derelict buildings in the town too numerous to mention.

Obviously it can be used for other purposes.

Instead of the Mayor waiting for people to come to him why doesn't he get off his behind and look for prospective investors.

Oh, and if he has already done this then I dont think he's tried hard enough.

Lightning tree, your one man persuit to bring down the mayor is again reaching new levels.

What more can he do other than try and get new businesses to invest in the town?

He can't force them, whats he supposed to do hold them at gun point?

"INVEST IN HARTLEPOOL OR I WILL SHOOT!!""

I think no matter what he done you would have a go at him.

Problem with jacksons landing is that it comes with a hefty price tag of 6million and that was a couple of years ago now!

i think a casino is a great suggestion bye the way especially to attract people to the town, as is a theatre/concert hall and to some extent an ice rink.

A long long time ago.

He gets paid good money.

I'd like to see some results.

buildings like the old cinema over the road from mill house and jacksons landing come with a heft price tag, as mentioned a few posts above, add to that the refurb costs, add to that the risk of it not even working, and it's not going to be a job for a small company is it?

Of course it isn't.

There are many buildings in the town which are stood empty and nothing seems to be getting done.

I know it costs money. It just seems as though nothing is being done.

The town is a mess. Maybe I should just move.

I like to see people doing their jobs, earning their coin.

When someone gets enthusiastic over a foooking casino which the majority of the population of the town wont use it pisses me off.

Grand ideas eh stpid
