Having just spent a week in a place called Bircham Newton, (somewhere between Kings Lynn and Fakenham) I can tell you travel to and from that part of the world is no fun. How the feck that family from Norwich travel to see pools all over the country is more than impressive.
Anyway, first morning at Bircham (an ex RAF Base now a national Construction College) I am plodding my way toward the house of scran for my brekkie listening to the Norfolk dawn chorus when a voice pierced the early morning mist,

'hey up, what the feck are you doing here and whats Turner done to the team?'...

Gadgie from my local

EDIT
Err to answer your question, no I think i have trodden in all :-o

me dad took me to work In Bacton, Norfolk when i was 18 on a gas plant they were building.

As we were going through the last small village my dad said "well take a look around, say goodbye to civilisation".

We turned a corner to drive out of the village and there was a lass getting fingered off a yokel behind a pub!!!

I have been to them all in England, all on the Scottish mainland and all in Wales. I reckon I've done most, if not all, in Southern Ireland as well.

Scandalous like, poor travel record in Scotland....well you don't know what you're going to find, the sweaty socks all leave..........fair record in the southeast but not done much in the west country further south than the Forest of Dean. As for Wales they might mistake you for a sheep.

I don't remember ever going to Norfolk either....... Cornwall was a place I'd never visited until about 9 years ago, quite liked the place.Penzance is a nice little town with loads of bars and restaurants and seemingly plenty of stuff going on, I definitely liked it there.

I honestly don't think that there is an English county that I've never set foot in. A combination of UK holidays as a kid (none of this chavvy package holiday crap), working away from time to time and following Pools all around the country have seen to that. When I get a chance I'm gonna check on a map to confirm but I'd be well surprised if I'm not correct.

talking about counties got an easy question in the pub quiz the other day, name the two counties which only have one football league team in them, also name the club.

A toss-up between Durham and North Yorkshire, for me.

yep - Pools and Sunderland are in Durham, except for about 20 years when there were two artificial counties created called Tyne and Wear, and Cleveland. This has now been rectified and the towns of Hartlepool and Sunderland (now a city) have been returned to the County of Durham for ceremonial purposes and tradition. Although the two local authorities have political independence from any county councils.

Ditto Gateshead.

Come to it, there were a few of those stupid metropolitan "counties" created in 1974 - Avon, West Midlands, Greater Manchester, Greater London, Merseyside, Humberside off the top of my head, where towns and cities from different counties were put together in a new "county".

Clydeside and many others in Scotland were created and classed as regional authorities, ditto in Wales, where the traditional counties were wiped from the maps

Merseyside is one of the metropolitan counties that everyone hated and was made up of Sefton where Southport is, Kirkby Newtown where Z Cars was, Liverpool where my strimmer is, St Helens where Eddie Waring watched his rugby league and Wirral which is referred to in Liverpool as 'Over The Water' and where Birkenhead and Tranmere is located.

Oh by the way goodbye Rafael Benitez always a loser

To be honest I think people might be a little too quick to start to pull the trigger on Benitez. One bad run of games in at least four years and there are people who think that he should go. Terrible.

You're not paying attention, as per my question early in the thread, it's not about 'passing through' counties, but the ones you actually 'visited'.

Croydon is indeed in Surrey.

The complete shithole end of Surrey. I went to the League Cup match there when we lost 2-1 after being 1-0 up (Eiffion) and that bloke off Stingray was managing them. First time out for the new navy blue shirt and I left the bastad ((c)ADG) in the hotel as it matched the duvet and I never spotted it when I was packing up. Phones up later but the entire place was staffed by Somalians and I had zero chance of ever getting the bugger back.

Next time I stayed there I wee'd on he carpet.......

All Hartlepool postcodes are TS, but I doubt many Poolies consider that they're in Teesside, especially as it doesn't exist anymore.
