typical of someone from the mail to read something completely wrong.

"With Scott, I don't like praising players too much because it means they usually have a fall but I think that he's going to be a top class goalkeeper.

"A lot of praise for that has to also go to our Goalkeeping Coach Gary Walsh who was a great find for us in the summer."

As I said in previous post, I can make up better stories than most mail reporter's.

Any sort of research would show this to be so far from the truth , that even the Sunday Sport wouldnt print it.

Fact 1. Scott Flinders signs for HUFC on 26th June 2009

Fact 2. Gary Walsh Joins HUFC as goalkeeper coach on 1st July 2009.

Fact 1 shows that Flinders signs 6 days prior to Fact 2 occuring.

You don't think its vaguely possible that before Walsh signed he might have said to Turner 'you need to sign this lad' ?

we had been rumoured to be signing him for a good 2 or 3 weeks before we did. So i think we have to praise turner for this one!

It's a bit ambiguous but it reads that Gary Walsh is being praised for coaching Scott Flinders and improving his performance.

There was a point made on another thread about the central defenders being more confident with Flinders behind them. When Dimi left the confidence of the defence collapsed but has been restored now that they've got a competent goaly. I would've thought it was obvious that the defence operates as a unit together with the goaly and wonder if Nelson's performance would've been so poor if he'd had Flinders behind him.
