I passed the three up at Hart and Elwick this morning and they're shrouded in foggy drizzle, the leaves don't stir on the trees, yet those massive blades are swooshing through the air with ease... so we have little wind yet still they turn?... you don't suppose it's a plot by the yoghurt knitters and lentil munchers and really that supply cable is actually feeding it power and turning round. Maybe they're all just a symbol to remind us of our 'duties', like those statues of Stalin in Russia and pictures of Hitler in Germany which were everywhere.
If I don't post again or this thread disappears, the Lentil Mind Police have got me.

...and I bet they haven't made allowance for the vibration from a wind turbine and its cumulative effect on the structure ... but it gives out a symbolic message and that's what counts.... as if.

Wind turbines operate from quite low wind speed of 3 - 4 m/sec (7 - 9 mph) - its just that they don't produce much power. They only achieve full output at wind speeds of around 15 m/sec (33 mph). The net result is they are failing to provide the electricity that was predicted from them. But never mind we're still paying the full level of subsidy for them.

We should've built Nuclear Power Stations when we had the chance but the Government went for ther cheaper option at the time which was to abdicate the responsibilitty and put the public amenities into th epublic sector. Hence we got the pile of shitte we have now.

its surprising how much difference in the wind there is at 100ft or how ever high they are compared to groudn level. i thought they all have soem form of motor or genterator anyway to help them along or start them up when there isnt much wind?

Yes, I've got him tied up in my attic as we speak. He's not getting out until he admits to the charge of faulty thinking. :coool:

By the way...lentil soup, lentil sausage andrice and lentil'suprise' do NOT count as three courses, especially as you were having a Bash Streey Kids fry up.

In the vegetarian guest house
all was frolic, feast and fun.
Eager voices crying gaily,
"Are the nettle cutlets done?"

Can't remember who wrote that, except that it wasn't me. confised

She's a hard woman .. remember Thelma on the Likely Lads, well imagine if she'd married Terry Collier instead of her beloved Bob by mistake, but rather than admit defeat was gonna house train me instead. .....but hang on, that sounds like she's going soft .... it may be a good sign, but on the other hand .... hmmm. bbolt
