Been Talking to a few youth workers and social workers today at work and they are deleting there facebook membership.
They were saying you could be talking to an old school pal you have not seen for 20 years and they could be involved in any dodgy stuff you no nothing about but you could end up being implicated by having them as a friend on facebook.

Scary when you think about it.

Nah!
Almost everyone is on facebook these days.
Okay, if one of your facebook friends is arrested then the police might check through your messages, posts etc but if none of yours are dodgy then nothing will be done about it. If everything you type down is recorded somewhere then the police would have to check through lots of banal shite and will only be interested if something suggest compliance with certain crimes
They're being too paranoid in my opinion, after this horrible malarky with the nursery worker, though I suppose its their right.

Can't say its too much of a problem.

I'm a social work student at Teesside Uni and they encourage the use of Facebook as it can be synchronised with Blackboard so it is easier for the course tutors to keep you updated (students use Facebook far more than the Uni Blackboard site). They also use it for different groups to easily communicate with their members (sports groups, asian groups etc)

If it was a major issue, they wouldn't promote it so readily.

Have you tried reading a book/magazine/Beano by way of an introduction to the English language.

Paranoia to the extreme here MOD, if someone commits an offence they're hardly like to do anything to the 300 people they're friends with on Facebook too.

the police if you work with young or vunrable young people go to your employer and say this person knows mr dodgepot they suspend you while invetergating and then its all over the town and you know you are guilty till proved innocent life ruined. confised

The chances of that happening are virtually slim to none mouldy.

Like Ric says though it's peoples right if they wanna delete it to do that but i think it's slightly over paranoid.
