In a word - clueless. We got the basic things wrong all night, the distribution was terrible and Grimsby never really looked threatened at all. It seems to me that we just expect something to happen at times, that the players don't seem to be able to go up to that next level and just expect for a goal to come from somewhere, anywhere. I'm really dumbfounded at how we can play so badly against a team who are utterly, utterly crap and there's not getting away from it. Bjornsson was so poor, McSweeney had a mare and Austin seemed to be capable of nothing more than hitting aimless balls at times. Monkhouse, meanwhile, didn't want to know. In the second half they sat back and invited us to come on to them and we just had no idea how to break them down. Even when they had a man sent off we were still clueless. I know it's only the Paintpot Trophy but you'd expect players who are fighting for a shirt to give a little bit more than that.

I dont think motivation is Turners strong point.

Would you blame the manager or the players?

Is both an option? sctatchinghead

If not, the manager for lack of motivation skills and the players for not trying hard enough

Tough one. Turner can't play for them, but I'd have made the substitutions at half-time considering we were 2 down. Tigro could be right in that he obviously can't motivate the players because I didn't see any marked differences in the second half performance until Boyd came on.

I presume from what you say that boydy did ok then? If so, then at least he seems to be getting into some form.

One of the main problems with McSweeney is his lack of height. When balls come in from the opposite wing he usually takes up a good position but doesn't win the ball in the air. If he was a player who offered something else like being able to dribble past players then you could probably live with this, but he doesn't offer that either.

There were a lot of good crosses put into the box last night, particularly in the first half. The problem was there was nobody getting on the end of them. Bjornsson did ok with his back to the goal with flick ons but when he is facing goal he either doesn't win the ball at all, or doesn't get enough on it. For a big guy he doesn't seem to use his strength much - he should be more aggressive and be more physical with the oppositions centre-halves.

All in all some good passing in the middle but a lack of bite up front.
