Ian Wright told a story on Talksport about that game the other week.

Ian McGuckin said to him during the match "You think you're Mr Big Time, you are a Sunday morning player"

Yes Ian McGuckin said that to Ian Wright rolfl

Wright's response;

"I'm flattered to be called a Sunday morning player that's where I came from but to be fair if you look around I am playing at Highbury, so it's fair to say I have made the big time"

I'm sure that was a diluted version of the story for radio!

What I remember about that game was getting a rise out of Dennis Bergkamp, if you remember he'd had a slow start to his Arsenal career, so when he went down injured in front of the Pools fans at the clock end we of course sang "What a waste of money" Berkgamp just gestured 4-0 with his fingers, it was probably the highlight of that awful season, getting a bite out of Bergkamp!

I remember that cheating bastard Lee Dixon diving pathetically in the box, trying to win a penalty when they were three nil up already - or summat like that. I was fuming, as were people round me.
Diving like that against a team so far below them in the leagues was despicable. I'm sure a pools fan got onto the pitch and was restrained. But Dixon would have deserved it...

When you look at our team it does make you wonder how we retricted them to only 5!

Steve Jones in goal ffs. Arsenal must have only mustered 5 shots on target :laugh:

Seeing that team makes you realise how far we have come!
