He claimed "constructive dismissal". The signing of player's against his wishes (Gonzalez) and that meant the club where in breach of his contract.

He fully deserves it imho. It was clearly constructive dismissal and we would all have done the same if we had been in his shoes. HOWEVER - now he has proved his point it would be good to see him make good use of the award, and perhaps a very sizeable donation to the Sir Bobby Robson fund would be appropriate. As has already been said it's not as if he really needs the money himself.

I heard that he was skint cos he'd pissed all his money up the wall of some dodgy business ventures like football Schools or similar.

The word up here in Geordie land is that Keegan is indeed very skint, or rather with debts, a reason behind him going back to the Mags and a reason for him to take them to court. Some people are very suspicious and wonder if he had it all planned, or just thought fuck it I need the money but not the hassle so I'll leave now they've given me a reason to sue them. Me, I have no idea but it certainly was well early in the season...

Didn't Keegan reject a higher figure in an out-of-court offer? The papers were reporting he was after £8m so if that's the case, he's shot himself in the foot.
