I used to do Plymouth on a clear run in 5 hours when I worked down there, but that was generally late Sunday night with no stops. Exeter is about 30-40 minutes closer.

On a Friday afternoon 7 hours was a good run and it often took longer.

Saturday morning I'd guess setting off about 8am should see you right unless you drive like Miss Daisy or you're taking lager drinkers who'll want loads of piss stops.

It's not a bad time of year to be doing the Exeter trip. August is a nightmare with holiday traffic on the M5 as you get further south. I would give yourself seven hours. You should comfortably be able to get to Bristol in 5 hours and Exeter's about another 80 miles.

Myself, Fetish Bob and Von Rarnish were home for Match Of The Day last time. And we stopped at Wetherby for an F.Pan "special".

I had my eyes shut all the way back though. Didnt realise a speedo could go off the clock.

average speed cameras on a 20 mile stretch of the M1 - loads of roadworks going on. Have to stick to the limit for every yard of it

Aye, the average ones are a bugger.

If any of you are going down the A1 between Leeming and Dishforth I can guarantee that those buggers are live too and quite sensitive.

Just over 100 I reckon.

I'll be there (via planes, trains and automobiles)

I don't think I've ever been on that terrace. We've always been stuffed into the corner of that crappy wooden half-a-stand along the side whenever I've been.

There was more than a 100 of us there when we got into the playoffs on the last day of the season a few years ago. We had all of that end plus some of the stand, I'd reckon over a 1,000 at a guess.

£100 for a day out. (well i say £100 but its more like £40 once we've split the fuel)

Trimdon to Exeter - 348 x 2 = 696 - So around £80s worth of fuel.

Ticket - £10.

Food and Drink - £10.

Anyone know where to park once we're down there?

Sorry.

With thunder. lightning and torrential rain pelting the bonnet from the outside and the pistons pummelling the bonnet from the inside Sir Les in his Silver Bullet had us back in time for last orders at The Woodcutter one year!

93/94 relegation season I was the first motorist out of the car park gates at 5pm from Home Park, we lost 2-0 and we were in the pub next to the chippy in Wetherby at 9pm!!!
The landlord didn't believe we'd been to the match until we showed him the match programme!!!!
If the police had been there they would have had all the evidence they needed to nick me for speeding!!!

I'll be there as it's my local.
there are roadworks on the M5 west of bristol around cribbs causeway to gordano thats about 3 junctions I think 17 to 19,down to 2 lanes and a 50 speedo on.might slow you up a bit if you hit it over lunchtime.
As for travel time I do the journey a few times a year in the car 380 miles for me door to door takes about 5 hours plus stops and thats with the family in tow so thats a maximum.
forecast is for rain and exeter's away end is uncovered.
parking really isn't a problem though most places charge, even the local schools(3 quid for match parking). As elvis said a lot of street parking available but there are a load of new resident only permit areas with super keen wardens so beware.loads of spaces in the city centre which aint that far away really.
safe journey to anyone who's coming down

Best ever announcement at an away match;

"Could the Hartlepool fans please come onto the pitch to greet your players in the directors box"

Quality clappp

I've had a soft spot for Exeter ever since that day, even though it's the most hungover I've ever been at a football match (we were in Torquay all day on the pop on the Friday!).

Me too. I thought the actions of both Exeter City and their fans were absolutely top notch after that game.

I'm sure I recall at the full time whistle a load of their rarfs storming down the pitch to the away end to try and start a fight and then a load going off outside the ground when our boys had finished celebrating and decided to take them on.

What's the prediction that there will be some sort of comment on the telly about "The journey, or one of the longest journeys in football"?

Not at the game I was at, they were clapping and shaking hands with Pools fans.
