She also had one of those copper bins with black swirls on, that you never see anymore, i call them Owton Manor bins, as it seemed every house up there had one!

Dad used to do it every morning with the paper when we were kids and we'd all sit there shitless shouting to him it was catching fire.....

we used to make parcels of sea coal wrapped up like fish n chips
then put them on top of the sticks in the grate they would mould with the heat which stopped them dropping through the grate
i still have the scars when the pebbles left in would explode and fly like bullets :uhoh:

I remeber that at my grans ... she used to put some seacoal on the fire and it went off like shrapnel....happy days :shock:
