...at the end of the interview with him in the Mail tonight, he said about James Brown....."Last season was tough for him after doing his crucuate.
But with a bit of luck, he can get back to form and get himself a decent move which he thoroughly deserves" ....

I know there has only been a handfull of games played this season but surely Nelson can see that using Pools as a stepping stone to a "bigger club" is not as attractive as first thought (from his own personal experience).

It will be interesting to see what reaction he gets if he plays. Most players who have played for us for such a period of time would get a favourable reaction I suspect but I dont think Nelson has done himself any favours (literally!) and there may be a few jeers.

As for Nelson's comments, they're just routine footballer-speak until that last line. Why make the comment about Brown unless you are deliberately trying to antagonise? Why not just say it's good to see him playing again and you hope he gets back to his best? You leave the rest unsaid. It's bloody obvious that Brown is capable of playing a higher level of football without it being waved in front of us by a player who's just left.

Thankfully every public utterance from James Brown suggests he is a young man with his head firmly on his shoulders rather than in the clouds. He also signed a new contract last season which I believe keeps him here until 2011? If he leaves Pools it will be on our terms and Nelson himself is well aware that we don't let our best players walk away from contracts.

Agreed totally. The last line is clearly trying to stir the shiiit. I SO hope we beat the feckers on saturday.

I hope he plays on Saturday and shows the form he has for the last two years.

James Brown seems a very grounded lad who knows that he's at a good club, I've heard Russ Green and Chris Turner say he's a breath of fresh compared to your standard footballer. When he signed his contract last season he said "give me the contract I'll sign it, I don't want to be in a Premiership clubs reserve team" Turner said that on radio Boro.

To think I defended him when he left, what a tosspot, disappointing really.

nelsons interview when he signed for norwich said it all for me. all that shyte about "going stale" at a small club. he is seriously deluded.

i used to really rate the lad, but the fact is he had TWO poor seasons for us as an integral part of the consistently worst defence in the league and then still expected a big pay rise. despite his agent repeatedly stirring the shiit not a single club from a higher division came in for him due to him being the worst passer of a football in the history of the game, and him having zero pace.

i eventually came to the conclusuion westwood and clark were making him look a better player than he was and i was actually pleased he chose to leave.

the only reason norwich signed him was on the advice of that clueless duffer butterworth.

in the unlikely event he plays against us next season i will boo him every time he touches the ball.

westwood is still a top man imho.

Totally agree I said on the other thread that Westwood left the club in the "right" way, totally admitted that he went for family reasons and loved the club. He is still always seen in the town and think he has respect and a real affinity with the town. Also liked the way he didnt celebrate when he scored on his return and clapped the croud at the end. (by the way that goal was another example of Nelson being clueless, if a returning defender, who you played with for about 4 season so know he is good in the air, was coming up from a corner you would stick to him like fies on shit, Nelson just let Westwood wonder free and nod the ball in)

I know I'm on shaky ground being a new poster and going against the grain and hope Nelson gets a warm reception. Possibly the two of the best seasons in Pools history (League 1 play-offs), Nelson was pivital to the success of the team. I appreciate that his comments in the mail were not the smartest and his last two seasons with us were not the greatest, but if you look at his complete time at Pools then I'd say he was a good servant.

I imagine if Mr Cooper was asked about players in his time at Pools then Nelson would be near the top of his list.

I will also give Westwood a good reception when he returns again

I think it's true there was a time when Nelson was pretty good and very little was getting past him. But what does 'getting stale' mean over and above 'deciding not to try any more'? You can get stale in a job and still do it properly.
Perhaps Nelson is getting bitter because he's discovered that even when he does try, he's no longer very effective.

All nelso gave me for the past two seasons was indigestion, I think even less os someone who can perform, in a fashion, but apparently doesn't, now that is annoying.

Snowy - If your question was for me than i'm unemotional how the rest of the North East teams perform.

I'd rather applaud Nelson who has actually played very well in Pools colours (not in the last two seasons) rather than someone like Keigan Parker (no matter how complementary he'd been about the club after he left)

a good servant ? he wasnt doing charity work you know. he got paid nearly 3 times the salary of a nurse for kicking a ball around, not very accurately.

and as grabec rightly states, at times last season he looked like he couldnt be arsed.

without fans like us, and owners like ior, these barely literate tossers wouldnt be driving around in bmw's and living the life of riley.

after what he has said i hope he plays shyte tomoro, is abused by the crowd every time he goes near the ball, and finds his new house has burnt down when he gets home the ungrateful motherfudger.[/quote]

Mr Chip Fireball

I agree with what you say in your 1st and 3rd paragraph but this could be labeled at the vast majority of footballers.
I don't think it was Nelson's attitude was the issue in his last season for us I think it was ability. I doubt he'll ever find the form he had under cooper again.

Form doesn't disappear, it's a result of application, hard work and a will to win, it doesn't appear like the rain every now and then.

yep fair enough if he had shown an ounce of gratitude to pools for plucking him from the 4th division for a decent signing on fee and sticking by him while he went through the not very good motions for 2 seasons till he could get a bosman.

but ever since he left he has done nowt but diss the club ( contrast with tommy miller who even wrote an open letter to the mail thanking the fans for their support ), so as far as im concerned he gets abuse when he plays against us.

Chip, I have recently bought myself a 'manbag'

I am going to bring it to the match tomorrow with half an house brick inside and If pea heart is playing, I'm going to chuck it at him

The way Nelson has been talking, bigging up everything Norwich and showing disrespect to the club and fans where he spent six years suggests to me he's realised what a shiite move he's made. He's not gonna be a first team regular and I dont reckon he'll last the season down there.
Probably come up with the old "me missus is homesick" routine.

i would say they were both holding each other back. Both look like they need a more mobile partner in order to function properly
