First of all sorry for the lateness, technical problems with laptops on way back.

Some people can remember where they where when JFK and Lennon were assinated. Pools fans need to remember where they where when we finally won at Priestfield.

Ok, so historically the win has no importance compared to the two aforeforementioned events, but it could prove to be a turning point for Pools this season.

Today was not a must win game but after 2 successive home defeats it was a must not lose game to help rebuild the confidence of both the players and the fans.

The performance was an OUTSTANDING, i will say it again an outstanding away performance. Pools were solid virtually throughout the 90 minutes, yes Gillingham probably edged possession in the first half, but the best chance fell to us when Brown headed over from about 6 yards from a free kick, though he was probably stretching just a little to much.

The second half was the same Pools SOLID throughout the team, Im not going to give the players marks im giving the team 9/10 today.Everyone played their part, Brown was off his feet when he was subbed.

A lovely lay off by Behan for Brown to curl into the top corner from about 18yards. Monkhouse making the keeper push it just wide of the post soon after as Pools got on top,and threatened more. Gillingham threw things at us as the game entered the final minutes but as a whole we stood FIRM. Only time of worry in the 2nd half when Jackson managed to slip the offside trap and with Flinders narrowing his angle his only option was to lob him and Collins came across to make a timely tackle.

Its 300 Minutes or 5 hours without conceding away from home, last season it seemed as if we couldnt go 5 minutes never mind 5 hours.

We have a DEFENCE we have a GOALKEEPER, we have CONFIDENCE, we have STEEL, IN ALL WE HAVE A TEAM.

We may get the "Boring" 0-0 or 1-0 wins away from home , but I for one can live with that away from home. if we can turn it on at home this season we will be the the "surprise" element , and surprise team in this division. Yes it still early but the signs are there. A lot of people had us with 0 points in August , we have 4 already, we have snuffed MK, Coventry and Gillingham out of the game on their own patches, we now need to beat teams at the Vic, from the performance of today THAT WILL COME TAKE MY WORD FOR IT.

This will be a far better season than the last 2 in my opinion. We can have faith.

UP THE POOLS.

Great report Bob - and in fairness however disappointed or badly I thought we performed on Tuesday we deserved a point as a minimum from the game!!! Things are not that bad

It makes a change to the last time we were down there - freezing your nuts off in November!

Thanks for that Bob,I could not make yesterday so your report is made even more welcome.

I saw the goal line clearance on the box which was brill and Browns goal must have been all the better watching it live and going in was so sweeet.

I agree we seem to have turned a corner and WILL get it right at home.

Apart from the laptop problems your journey home must have been all the better bringing home the points.

Well done Chris Turner and the boys, what will the doubters have to complain about this week. clappp

I thought that was a certain goal until we cleared that off the line. That was crucial.

Team will get better after results like this. Gill's defence looked shaky at times in the first half and with a little extra belief we could have taken advantage. Well done to CT and staff because we started the second half at an even higher tempo and it paid off.
Browny will get fitter and with Boydy and Behan the forward line is interchangeable and will get goals.
Defensively solid, Lidds again looked like he'd played there for years. Flinders looks and acts like a proper keeper. He was furious with himself when he spilt one in the warm up!
A good team performance with a couple of criticisms:
Fred dwelt on the ball too much. McSweeney gave the ball away too much in first half but made up for it with an all action second half.
150 fans (seemed like more) went home well pleased.
