It's not bouts of madness...it's just frustrating for all of us to have to sit there evry night watching the news and hear about constant streams of global terrorism, market meltdown, foreclosure etc, (although there are pleasnt stories as well, Bolt's world records etc).

What sort of thing is that to grow up with?

It's not frustrating to me....it's called LIFE!!!! :coool:

BTW....Me and my family have never been better off Financially than we have in the last couple of years....so long may this Recession continue I say!!!! :coool:

In my opinion, there hasn't been a decade of world history so depressingly bad as from September 11, 2001 - November 4th, 2009.

I don't particularly think that it's life that's depressing, just that part of history.

Genuine question: What will the "Noughties" be remembered for? Nothing much positive, apart from Obama and 'Pools success in the last ten years

There are still sometimes, only sometimes, when I wish that the Nineties were back.

Surely during the 'noughties' you we're about 8,9,10 year old?

Arnt you 18-19 so you were only a nipper sucking your toe in th 90's, also you seem to forget that in the first 50 years of the 1900's half the world was at war and in WW1 nearly half of the young men in Europe were wiped out. But lets take your blinkered views on board and class them as correct.

No, I understand that, so what I'm saying here is that there hasn't been a decade of world history in modern times that's been as depressing as September 2001 to November 2009.

I've found it a pretty fantastic time actually.

during this period of such an awful time which you describe, i got laid with about 30 different women, i earned loads of money, i pissed loads of money up the wall, i had 2 kids, and i learnt that some young people who live in kent are clueless.

Happy days.

Yeah, life as whole is great. It's just been this decade that's been rubbish in terms of iconic moments.

A poll was conducted where people were asked "What do you think is the most iconic moment of the 2000-201. The top answer was 9/11.

So what it's saying there athat the most iconic moment for them ofthis age was the death of 3,000 people andabout 2,00 tonnes of metal crashing down to the Earth.

That just goes to show in my opinion how good this deade's been.

Having said that, in terms of technology and standard of living, it semms that generally, we've never had it so good.

Well, 1914-1918 wasn't too hot, and neither was 1939-45 (ask any death camp survivor). And there weren't too many laughs just over a century ago for 12-year-old boys working in coal mines and girls of the same age working in mills. And what about the slave trade etc etc etc ...I could go on, but you get the point.

No, actually, I do agree with you. That's whay I revised the statement to "a period of modern world history".

I do agree with you, about the coal mine point. In terms of standard of living, we've never had it so good.
