& if youre not in Gillingham we have
GOLTY FARABEAU & THE RED EARTH ROOTS REGGAE BAND playing the Studio.
Golty is from The Seychelles but now based in Cheshire, these guys play real cool sunshine roots reggae music.
The band will be doing 2 sets around 45 mins to an hour with the first set kicking off around 9pm.
There cant be anything better to do outside of Gillingham this Saturday so see you all there.

It may just be me, but why is it that the (weekend) nights advertised on this board at the "studio" are always Ska, Reggea or punk?

There must be plenty of bands in the tees / hartlepool area needing a start? I'm including in that: Rock & Metal bands

I'll admit, I'm biased, but i'm sick of having to travel to Boro for decent rock bands.

I'm not knocking the studio, my best night there was watching the New Zealand group from Billingham Folklore, about 2003, the venue really can sell itself!

People want good music, mix it up a little?

You can't please all of the people all of the time, but you could give it a go!!!

This quarter at The Studio

Danny Bryant - Blues
Lightning Willie - Blues
Demon Summer - local indie
Kounterfeit Kinks - 60s/Mod tribute
Vanishing Light - Metal free entry gig

August
Steady Boys - Ska
Becks & The Bullets - Ska ? Pop ? certainly totally original first class tunes
Limehouse Lizzy - Rock tribute
Misled Heroes/LSD/Go Moscow - Local young talent
Strangers On A Stage - 60s covers tribute (charity fundraiser)
A Fable For The Curious - Metal
Chris Helme - Indie
Golty - Reggae
Green Days - tribute (punk ? Indie ? Pop?)

Chris Helme - Indie
John Otway - Lunacy

Noise Explosion - Rock & Roll

Also various other events such as Film Club,Open Mic,Musicians Unlimited Big Band,Comedy Club

I think thats a pretty varied programme.
FaceAche,if you think there is a market for metal/rock bands and you reckon you could get them here at sensible prices let me know & we'll see what we can do.Its pointless me trying to put metal nights on as I know very little about the metal scene

I agree with you, every band that play love the place, every customer that travels from out of town loves the place, but still we regularly have good bands playing to an empty room.
One argument is that people dont know whats on because its not advertised enough yet I started a 'free entry friday' & people seem to have found out about those gigs easily enough.

Anyway,FaceAche come along on Saturday & have a beer with Mutley & myself

Cheers

Saturday 19th December - John Otway & Wild Billy Barrett.
I dread to think how much he is charging because the entry fee is a little on the high side
