Long ball, long ball, long ball. Every time Brown got the ball at his feet he turned his man and looked dangerous. So, what did we do? Play at chest height for most of the match. We started well and played some excellent football at times, yet we resorted to long ball after we went behind and it just spoils us as a team. Bright spots for me were Behan, Hartley and Haslam.

In happier news my team under my guidance of managership and captainship (camerons fc) beat rugby 3-2 on greyfields, good battling performance on a very heavily grassed pitched, loads of passing into feet, was delighted.

Pools should come and watch on there sometimes, they could get some tips.

it was too direct. but barring a 10 minute spell we controlled the match, were unlucky to only score once. 2 cases of hesitation defensively cost us. Still plenty of room for improvement however there are some signs there that we will pick up points

is everyone blaked or something? We played some good football at times. We also played some long ball crap which got us nowhere. I could understand it in the windy conditions on Saturday. Tonight though, no excuse.

I can't believe we lost that match. What does Behan have to do to win man of the match btw?

The league is very strong this season, we've got to pick up points against the teams that will be around us, like brizzle n tha.

Its going to be one long struggle. The crowd was awful. 3100. Luckily we play Norwich next, should push it over 4000.

Poor performance. Turner wants to be judged against teams like Bristol Rovers - well, they were solid in defence and made no mistakes. We've learned from last seasons errors, and now can repeat them upon request.

We desperately need a Willie Boland type player, otherwise we will just keep end up resorting to the long ball.

I'm impressed with Flinders, pleased with Liddle & think Behan is going to be a fans favourite.

Going to be another long season.

How long is bolland out.He should have been scattered if he's going to be on the treatment table half the season. We need someone now not foooking xmas.
Fredrikson and Sweeney are not the answer from what i've seen.

only time will tell.

however it would be wrong in my opinion to let the bloke bring in 10 players and then send him back upstairs after 2 defeats. We all know its going to take 4 or 5 more weeks before we gel properly. we also knew that we wouldn't pick up many points in the first 5 games.

Making the substitutions so late in the game show me that Turner is not willing to make tough decisions - he just won't change things when they are not going to plan. Seemed to spend far too much time explaining to Colin West what we needed to do instead of telling the players themselves.

draw with Mk Dons, Coventry beaten, we lose to one of the favourites and unlucky not to come away with a point and it's Turner out?

Some people will never be happy, Granted his subs tonight were baffling but we got to give the team a chance to gel and take it from there..

God almighty

its not just the team its the decisions.

as for turner out, you cant judge a manager on 3 league games, but if results dont go our way in the next month we will be in the shit

kin ell!!!

We didn't play that badly! There are encouraging signs (Behan, Flinders being 2). We have a few players out and a few players who need to get match fit. We also had a sub-standard referee who didn't seem to know how to do his job properly. No need to panic.

It seems that Bristol Rovers are a bit of a bogey team for us. I guarantee that we'll come away with a scarcely deserved result like this at some point this season.

The players have changed, but we are still playing the same way. We play well in patches, and look like we could do something - but then seem to stop playing that way and go back to the long ball. It's frustrating.

seriously, if you think we controlled that game for 80 minutes you need professional psychiatric help.

rolfl

read the same thing each time we lose

its the referee
we controlled the game

but what counts is the result, which we didnt get tonight! sadx

wise words mr fireball, i concur with most of that. They were a decent footballing team, and very dangerous on the break, Kuffour was a class act. I thought pools did well for a lot of the game, started brightly and should have had a couple in the first 30 mins. Then they started to come into it strongly and control the midfield, and for 15mins before the break really pressurred us and got there goals, gr8 save from flinders just before interval also. I thought they were in control fter the break, until about 60 minutes, when pools started to exert some pressure on them, which nearly resulted in an equaliser, how well did behan strike that ball! Rovers defended well under pressure in last twenty minutes, CLEARING THIER LINES at every oppurtunity, ref bottled sending their no11 off, diabolical challenge right in front of where I was stood refred
In summing up i'd say we allowed their players to much time on the ball in midfield, this is were we lost the game IMO, fredr and sweeney together are not the answer, to little cover for the defence which will be put under pressure every game if these 2 play together, both like to get forward, which often results in little cover when we lose possesion.
Behan was fantastic.

We resort to long balls because were only playing with 1 central midfielder imo. Sweeney can run and get on end of crosses etc but theres no point passing to him in the middle as he just loses it. We need a Boland type of player desperatly.

If I was a defender in this team I think id bypass the midfield too.

We just seem to lack a spark around the box and the last third, i dont think ive seen us open a team up once in the 3 games ive seen this season. I want Turner to do well but if we resort tolong balls again he wont. Still, this team has only had 4 games together and we can see good spells at times just not enough. My only real complaint was the subs, Brown should have been off earlier, he was blowing out of his arse.
