Something along the lines of "the new signings and the preseason matches haven't given the fans confidence, I can't see us picking up any points from the first five games, relegation is a distinct possibility, and I will be following Pools from the comfort of my sofa on a Saturday"

I dont understand that sort of negativity. refred

I think some supporters (if you can call them that) are just happy to moan all the time. There is a renewed optimism right now, lets just enjoy it.

Thing is Chip we will always lose some games, it is the matter of the defeat that matters.

Bags of effort and never say die attitude will not attract much criticism in a defeat but (apparent) spineless couldn't give a feck attitudes will.

Which was the common opinion before last saturday,
That opinion was expressed outside the Studio & resulted in someone losing a fiver to yours truly

yes but surely you have to actually be at the game to determine the level of effort being put in.

some of the most resolutely negative posters in the history of the bunker are currently all sweetness and light. which makes a refreshing change. im curious to see how long it will last.

I have been known to dabble in a touch a negativety on the rarest of occasions but Im going to try my very best to give the new squad chance to gel. I expected a bad season before it started so I cant be disappointed with the start we have made! Like someone posted above, the amount of effort that the players put in will be key. I think there has been way to much complacency over the last 2 seasons and if the new lads give their all then I wont moan (too much). I would be a little bit happier if we were to sign an established holding player and a pacey striker like.

From the way Colin Larkin shot down the right and popped that cross square on Boydy's chest, I think you can cross that one off your list.

Just watched that, good bit of pace about him that guy.

Turner could have possibly unearthed some hidden gems this summer.

"Turner left on November 7, 2002 with Pools four points clear at the top, with 17 games played and still 29 to play. Newell then took us 14 points clear, and then we blew it finishing second."

Everything is fact, except for the blatant opinion at the end which is debatable.

The question still remains: Did Hartlepool blow the League title in 2002/2003, or did Rushden and Diamonds win it? I tend to think the latter.

"IOR is a business run like a business and most businesses don't divulge to everyone why they have dispensed with someone's services. Because, we as fans, support Hartlepool United it doesn't mean we have the right to know everything that occurs within the club's four walls."

I have disagreed on this argument on several occasions purely because it has created needless contraversies around reasons for managers leaving us, especially when Newell, Cooper and Wilson left rather acrimoniously. I'm still not convinced.

Otherwise, I do agree with him on Turner, pessimists and armchair supporters.

i think if a club is 16 points clear at the top, then it's in there hands, they would have to lose games and other teams win, so for me thats blowing it.

Mar 01 34 Darlington (A) 2-2 1 +2

Mar 07 36 Bury (H) 0-0 1
Mar 15 37 Southend (H) 2-1 3
Mar 18 38 Wrexham (A) 0-2 0
Mar 22 39 Bristol Rovers (A) 0-1 0 +1
Mar 29 40 Bournemouth (H) 0-0 1
Apr 05 41 Kidderminster (A) 2-2 1
Apr 12 42 Leyton Orient (H) 4-1 3
Apr 19 43 Scunthorpe (A) 0-4 0
Apr 21 44 Rochdale (H) 2-2 1 +2
Apr 26 45 Shrewsbury (H) 3-0 3
May 03 46 Rushden (A) 1-1 1

A final run in of won 3 drew 6 and lost 4 was throwing it away.

I've highlighted 6 points above that we should have won, which would have given us the title with ease. Others with better memories than me can probably correct me, or agree, I'm only going by league positions, and what we would have been expecting to achieve.

A win at Darlo would have been enough to have won the title, no wonder I still hate them with a vengeance. banghead

Looking at it now, we should have broke 100 points easily.

Here's another "blatant opinion": Pools didn't just blow it, they made a total and absolute cock-up of it after having it won two-thirds of the way through the season. R&D didn't win that title, Pools lost it.
And the correct spelling is CONTROVERSIES.

If you think that the sacking of Know-all and Wilson were 'controversies', you need your rocks looking at
