I didnt expect that when I clicked on the link...
You Are The Quarry brought him right back to my heart but the last album was a bit of a bummer and the gig at the Sage was totally disappointing.
I see him as being in the past now, personally.
It would be sad if he did it and I wouldnt imagine he'd come any better than fifth anyway, or worse, given how shite the whole thing is, so it could be rather humiliating as well.
Unless it turned it into a proper musical contest, which I doubt it.

Why ever not???!! I'm with Mozza, I LOVE Eurovision (I've hardly missed it in 40 years!!) and I feel sure he'd garner the public vote. Some of his stuff can be really commercial (my eldest has sang "You're The One For Me, Fatty" since she was about two!)

GET IT DONE STEVEN! clappp clappp clappp

OK so I haven't kept up with his career (after the first solo album really) but in terms of songwriting Morrissey's output is full of the sort of wit that isn't often seen. Especially some of The Smiths stuff - go back and listen to songs like Panic, Ask, This Charming Man.... there's a sort of dark humour in songs like Girlfriend in a Coma too.

Would he win Eurovision? A few years ago I'd have said that it was simply too ridiculous for words - established stars don't do it, it's always people looking for their first break, and if it's not fairly disposable pop then forget it. However if a Glam Metal band from Finland can win it, why can't Morrissey? Even if he finished last I don't think it would matter much to him in the grand scheme of things - and he could probably turn it into a positive. Win, and he's just had a hit all over Europe.....

you got me all wrong!

Morrissey is one of my all-time heroes, and I think him doing this will be perhaps the final nail in his coffin.......[credibility-wise]

cant beat pretty girls make graves!!

Upon the sand, upon the bay
"There is a quick and easy way" you say
Before you illustrate
I'd rather state :
"I'm not the man you think I am
I'm not the man you think I am"

And Sorrow's native son
He will not smile for anyone

And Pretty Girls Make Graves

End of the pier, end of the bay
You tug my arm, and say : "Give in to lust,
Give up to lust, oh heaven knows we'll
Soon be dust ... "

I'm not the man you think I am
I'm not the man you think I am

And Sorrow's native son
He will not rise for anyone

And Pretty Girls Make Graves
Oh really ?

I could have been wild and I could have
Been free
But Nature played this trick on me

She wants it Now
And she will not wait
But she's too rough
And I'm too delicate

Then, on the sand
Another man, he takes her hand
A smile lights up her stu-pid face
(and well, it would)

I lost my faith in Womanhood

or Miserable Lie!!

So, goodbye
Please stay with your own kind
And I'll stay with mine

There's something against us
It's not time
It's not time
So, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye

I know I need hardly say
How much I love your casual way
Oh, but please put your tongue away
A little higher and we're well away
The dark nights are drawing in
And your humour is as black as them
I look at yours, you laugh at mine
And "love" is just a miserable lie
You have destroyed my flower-like life
Not once - twice
You have corrupt my innocent mind
Not once - twice
I know the wind-swept mystical air
It means : I'd like to see your underwear
I recognise that mystical air
It means : I'd like to seize your underwear
What do we get for our trouble and pain ?
Just a rented room in Whalley Range
What do we get for our trouble and pain ?
...Whalley Range !
Into the depths of the criminal world
I followed her

I need advice, I need advice
I need advice, I need advice
Nobody ever looks at me twice
Nobody ever looks at me twice

I'm just a country-mile behind
The world

or Girl Afraid!!

Girl afraid
Where do his intentions lay ?

Or does he even have any ?

She says :

"He never really looks at me
I give him every opportunity
In the room downstairs
He sat and stared
In the room downstairs
He sat and stared
I'll never make that mistake again !"

I'll never make that mistake again
I'll never make that mistake again

Boy afraid
Prudence never pays

And everything she wants costs money

"But she doesn't even LIKE me !
And I know because she said so
In the room downstairs
She sat and stared
In the room downstairs
She sat and stared
I'll never make that mistake again !"

or STRETCH OUT AND WAIT!!!!!!!!

All the lies that you make up
What's at the back of your mind ?
Oh, your face I can see
And it's desperately kind
But what's at the back of your mind ?

Two icy-cold hands conducting the way
It's the Eskimo blood in my veins
Amid concrete and clay
And general decay
Nature must still find a way
So ignore all the codes of the day
Let your juvenile influences sway
This way and that way
This way, that way
God, how sex implores you
To let yourself lose yourself

Stretch out and wait
Stretch out and wait
Let your puny body, lie down, lie down
As we lie, you say

As we lie, you say
Stretch out and ...
Stretch out and wait
Stretch out and wait
Let your puny body lie down, lie down

As we lie, you say :
Will the world end in the night time ?
(I really don't know)
Or will the world end in the day time ?
(I really don't know)
And is there any point ever having children ?
Oh, I don't know
All I do know is we're Here and it's Now

So ... stretch out and wait
Stretch out and wait
There is no debate, no debate, no debate
How can you conciously contemplate
When there's no debate

Isnt Eurovision supposed to be about the song (writing) rather than the performer?

Yes, and I can't think of a better English songwriter from the last 15 years.

apart from Thom Yorke.

Girls never ask me questions, they usually make statements such as:

"You're not putting that in me."

or

"What's that smell."

:uhoh: :uhoh:

Or:

'How am I going to get that out of me whimple??......  '
