Rest in peace young man, whatever the rights and wrongs of the war you gave your life trying to save an oppo. This is heroism and even though it will be no comfort to your family, I would be suprised if a gallantry award isn't forthcoming.

As you may or may not know Rifleman Daniel Wild was Killed in Afganistan. Rifleman Wild was from Hartlepool and died serving his country.

It's with this in mind that I request Hartlepool Football club observe a minutes silence prior to the Game against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night. I request this not as a friend or relative but a fellow Hartlepudlian as I personally did not know Rifleman Wilde.

I dont know the protocol of whether you need to seek the family's agreement or even the agreement of the F.A. With this in mind I request you seek the necessary permissions, if required and observe a minutes silence in memory of a local born man whose life was tragedically taken.

Also let it be known in the local press prior to the game that this may happen if you decide to observe this request.
