http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009 ... t-comeback

The Brazil legend Romario has confirmed he is coming out of retirement to fulfil his late father's wishes and play for América Football Club.

The 43-year-old hung up his boots over a year ago after a long and distinguished career spanning 23 years and over 1000 goals. However, the striker has now decided to play a couple of games for América – the team his father supported.

1000 goals my arse!!

These goals did include all senior level goals, youth team goals, friendly goals, goals in ward jackson park, all goals on fifa, the couple he got against his brother in his bark yard as a bairn and the one he notched through his daughters legs when she was 5!

Why should he not keep playing? I just dont see who it can offend, and when I was younger the best bit of advice I ever got about sport was keep playing until you know longer can. You only have one life. In my honest opinion more people should not know when to give up. Too many people give up too easily.

I concur, I.I.
What's all this sneering at oldies?

I just think his carear is laughable, he's his own biggest fan and keeps doing all these comebacks just to keep himself in the lime light.

These 1,000 goals he scored has basically just been added up in his head, and the game had to be stopped when he scored his penalty for 7 minutes so he could do tv interview on the pitch.

Arrogence of the highest order.

He was a good player, 15 years ago!!

Everybody knows that pelanties, yes that's pelanties, so FO Mr Talbot, don't count as goals if Richie Barker scores them but are worth two if Joel Porter scores them.

And only puffs call puffs puffs right?? :-o

Mr Kosherbedworth will be telling us where he lives next.........
