What can be said about today's performance.

Pools looked well organised throughout the 90 minutes and were well worthy of a point. Players were organised and few mistakes were made, when they were they were in positions that weren't dangerous. And someone always got into a position to cover. We actually saw a Pools goalie make a save from a free kick, that was going in.

With so many players making their debut, things look good, although only one game in.

A few players could be named MOM, but it goes to Fredriksen but only just in my opinion.

the defence worked well for each other and the midfield held their own throughout. Nelson conceded 7 so maybe he was the weak link last season.

Liddle and Collins were never really in any trouble and comfortable all game. Behan looks like he could be a decent target man up front and he is willing to close down at times.

Flinders 7, punched well , made outsatnding save from free kick and was kicked by MK player who should have been sent but both officials missed it

Haslam 6 tracked back well caught out couple times with balls inside him and caught out for pace couple times

Liddle 7 steady away all game comfortable in his new found position

Collins 7 got better and better as the game went on

Hartley 7 did what he was asked to do, not spectacular but steady all game

McSweeney 6 bit quiet but willing to chase any balls over the top when had to

Sweeney 6 covered ground and pushed forward

Jones 7 similiar to all players did a job until replaced by Brown

Fredriksen 8 once more covered ground and found Pools players with not only short passes but some lovely long passes

Monkhouse 6 quiet all game attacking wise but ably assisted the defence by covering back

Behan 7 led line well held ball up lay it off well most of game, could well be a decent signing

Brown 6 quiet for the time he had on

Rowel on for Fredriksen with seconds left , more of a time wasting exercise by turner to kill the game

Turner 8 As you know I thought Turner not man for the job but he got everything right today, faultless performance from him.

The season is one game old but if we perform like this away from home build at home the pessimists and moaners wont be on here much this season.

Well done everyone in a Pools shirt and on the bench today.

a throughly enjoyable point and a good day in all. Skylark myself and elvisaintdead, and 2 non board members.

We can surprise many teams with performances like that

can't argue with that.
Friedriksen, definitely the star man , ran the show superbly.
If we can build on that this season could be quite interesting

Proud to be a Poolie

Cheers for the report. Im amazed we got a clean sheet away from home with such a 'new' defence.

Id have gone for Collins or Liddle MOM. They stood firm today despite MK having a quick attack. Nothing away from Fredriksen i must say who also had a very good game. I hope Flinders continues like that, his handling was spot on.

I didnt see a stamp but it would explain such a reaction from their player.

Bob has it spot on. Fredriksen or Flinders were my men of the match.

We looked really organised at the back and it was a professional away peformance.

They all did their bit and the point is well deserved. MOM for me was Gary Liddle, he was as safe as houses. Haslam won't be the only one to get the runaround by Puncheon this season, but the pleasing thing was he stuck with it. A truly professional performance.
The whole team can only grow in confidence with performances like that.
Well done to all of them.
Nelsons phone will be red hot with the lads texting him and taking the piss.

Brilliant performance for me. A vast improvement from when I was down at Bristol Rovers in May.
This may be looked back on as a very good result dpending on what happens next May.
The defence was tighter than last season - they weren't afraid to deal with passes coming in.
There was a lot of threat from the wing, but their poor finishing meant I don't think they ever really troubled us apart from a fantastically saved shot from Flinders.
Had plenty of chances ourselves.
MOTM either goes to Fredriksen (could become a cult hero at the club, if he plays consistently as he did) or Flinders (great competitive debut)

Only sour point - officiating was diabolical at times and looks like it's not going to improve during the season.

Well done 'Pools!!!! clappp clappp clappp

It was the type of Away Performance that will annoy the fook out of so-called "Good Teams" in the division. Professional, Organised and Tight. We seemed to be playing as a unit today, I've not enjoyed a 0-0 as much for years. A very good start, with only perhaps 3/4s of our "strongest" line-up...chuffed to bits.

Echoes of when Turner was originally in charge by the sounds of it - what got us promoted that season he left was keeping it tight away from home and then looking to snatch a winner. We won eight away games in 02/3 (according to MadJohn's site) and only one of them was by more than one goal which was against Carlisle on the opening day. 5 of them were 1-0s, and we kept a couple of other clean sheets as well. We didn't pick up many plaudits for our expansive play from home fans, but we were quite happy with the points....

It's just one game so not time to start placing bets, but this is definately a better result for us than for MK - and if we can build on it so much the better.

I remember a lot of them scrappy 1-0 away wins, bury away 1-0 boyd winner i remember we went back to 3-5-2, and like you've touched on already, not easy on the eye but the 3 points is key, if we can get to putting in performances like that i will be very pleased.

Having finally got to the game on my way home from Germany, I was very impressed/pleased by what I saw yesterday.

My only critisism would be that sometimes our midfield were a little slow to get forward and support Behan, who won his fair share of flick-ons etc, with a player closer to him or running off him we would have been a lot more dangerous. But we where away from home and it was a new combination so it will take time to gel.

Very well done to Liddle who was my man of the match for the way he kept their front two quiet, closely followed by little Freddie who ran the midfield and will develop a good partnership with Sweeney and hopefully allow him to run on and get ahead of the front two and bag a few this season.

Very well done lads, great point against a fancied team.

It was a display that we have lacked for a while. Well organised and every player doing their part. No one had a poor game. Great start - 'Freddie' was the one that stood out, but well done to the whole team - now we build on it.

I totally agree: those seats are brilliant compared to those wooden seats at Leyton Orient that make your bum sore.

Well, it's not every time I get irate, but some of the decisions they made on Saturday were really diabolical.

Unfortunately, a new season may have started, but it doesn't mean to say the officiating in our matches has improved at all.

He wouldnt be the first sengelow to get chucked out of a football ground.

The funniest moment of my life was watching TPP kicking and screaming as the stewards at scunthorpe flung him out onto the streets where he belongs.

I feel honoured that i got too see that.

I would have laughed my cap off (no pun intended) if PoK got threw out.

"Mate why did you get thrown out"

PoK - "oh I was over zelous with my baseball cap was angered by the officials and blew my top and threw it at a steward"

I wasn't very loud in my protests anyway. I recognise that there's a way you can still protest without going seemingly "over-the-top".

I'll be fine as long as we don't lose out to a dodgy decision to Coventry on Wednesday night.
