Normally I'm so liberal on crime and punishment people think I'm a loony. I rarely see the point in locking angry damaged individuals up for long periods of time with more angry damaged individuals, so they can get more angry and damaged.

But I'm angry that a man who took the mickey out of british justice - by refusing to accept a legitimate punishment by escaping and living the high life in Brazil has been released - even if it is only a technicality.

For him whilst in Brazil to record 'Cosh the Driver' with the Sex Pistols mocking the family and relatives of the dead man was disgusting.

He only came back to England to get free medical treatment. I'm afraid I would not have released him, I would not even have readmitted him to Britain. He should have been left to die an impoverished death in the land he'd chosen to hide in.

Beacuse thats why he is being released? I'm sure there are also plenty of other people in the prison system who are no harm anymore to others, why don't we release them sctatchinghead Also, i'm not sure that old biggsy has 3 fulltime guards warching over him 24/7

"Cosh The Driver" was just a pre-issue title for the song that ended up as "No-One Is Innocent". It was exactly the same song as was released, and I've scanned the lyrics from memory but can't find a mention of the Driver or his relatives? Granted, it's a poor-taste song( God Save Ian Brady??!!) and shouldn't have been given the Sex Pistols name (Only Cook and Jones survived by "Swindle" point anyway..) but it's not what it seems.

Blame Malcolm McLaren for that one, and is it any worse than say Morrissey chuntering about Reggie Kray?

I wasn't meaning that he directly mocked them. I meant that by recording a track which he believed would be called 'Cosh the Driver' he was mocking them from his luxurious life in Brasil.

I agree wholeheartedly that it should not be called part of the Pistols cannon of work. From the minute Lydon left it wasn't the Pistols. If I could only keep 5 albums NMTB would be one of the five. But the stuff on the Great Rock and Roll Swindle is mostly bollocks.

And yes, I do think it is worse for one of the perpetrators of a crime to glory in it than for an ageing crooner to get off on East End gangsters

Ronnie Biggs didn't even set foot on the train, he didn't cosh the driver, that was 'Buster' as per Phil (no hair required) Collins. FFS, this was forty odd years ago and he's a dying old man. Get off your high horses. There are people holding knives to babies faces whilst robbing their mothers who only get three years. This bloke was a small time villian who got in on the job at the back end.

30 years? oh do give over!

I'm sure the family of the bloke who died are delighted with attitudes like that.

If he wanted to skip the country and enjoy the high life he should have been made to stay there and enjoy their health service. Small time villain or not.

Are you seriously telling me that dying of cancer, which the driver did, was Bigg's fault?

That's what you get for putting Jack Straw in as the voice of justice in Britain. He's not a judge he's a politician. However, he thinks he's God. In fact, he's the most obnoxious of the lot.

And a very, very, very evil bastad ((c)ADG)
