I can definitely remember lots of people bringing their dogs to Pools when I was a kid ,canine pitch invasions were not unusual, but I can't remember when I last saw one...

I have two questions:

Are dogs banned nowadays?

If they are banned when did it happen and who is to blame? Most lower division matches would be improved by a random Jack Russell keen to shag the ball.

I can't remember dogs ever being allowed in, but there was always some flea bitten Heinz 57 that managed to gain entry and oragnise a pitch invasion.

Obviously it must have been long before my time. I can recall a rabbit being released onto the pitch when we scored against darlo once.

I can remember a brown mongrel type dog religously frequenting the mill house terrace when the gates opened near the end. It used to get a good feed from the bits of pie etc... I'm talking early 80's so its probably well dead now, or the oldest dog in the world!!

I remember a giraffe being let loose on the pitch in a League Cup game against Derby in 84.

How we laughed, and yet were appalled that such animal cruelty could happen at the Vic.

Even men with steel hearts love to see a dog on the pitch. It generates a warmth around the ground that augurs well for mankind. And that’s what life’s about!

Quality dog compilation there Jish. When people said that the men in the white coats would come to take me away I never thought they really existed.

I remember that '80s dog in the Millhouse and I'm sure there were a few more in the '70s, maybe the club released them- any distraction was welcome.
