I wouldn't say Broad is particularly over-rated. Most cricket fans, while acknowledging his potential, recognise that he has a lot of work to do before the can be secure as a Test cricketer.

As for Flintoff, he's one of those cases where the stats don't tell the whole story. There was discussion a couple of weeks before the first Test when Flintoff's fitness wasn't certain. Ryan Sidebottom's name cropped up. Now whichever way you choose to measure it (wkts per innings, 5 wt hauls, average, strike rate, economy) Sidebottom is a superior Test bowler to Flintoff. Except... he isn't. Australia would be delighted if Flintoff was unavailable and replaced by any other English bowler.
