With the season only just over a week away
Who do you think will start the season and in which positions against MK Dons and include the seven subs.
Assume everyone who is injured at the moment is fit to play. Also include the new left full back and new centre half and the new holding midfielder that will be in for the start of the season.

For some reason I believe him when he says we will have the three new signings maybe im a bit naive on this but lets just wait.

As for the holding midfielder I know Liverpool arent sure on the future of Mascherano.

Yeah, but you're Chris Turner so you're bound to be hopeful.

One problem with this I know he said everyone who is injured now to be fit but Clark we know is out for up to 6 weeks not sure on exactly how long so he cant play. For the rest of the team would them new sigings really strengthen our team? Shouldnt we be going for quality players.

we are only realistically 2 players away from a good (ish) team. I think a lot of our problems stem from a lack of leadership on the field and an organiser. Michael Barron has never been replaced sadx

Too right he hasn't, people can say what they like about Barron but he was a leader and he had passion and guts, he organised that defence and kept it right.

We've suffered since he retired big style.

Do you think it could be the point that the majority of our team are quite young and haven't actually played under a leader like Barron or someone who will kick their arse if they arent pulling their weight or doing their jobs.

Ive only seen the Sheff Wed pre season game although Flinders made himself heard when he wasnt happy about something ALB never seemed to do this. Hopefully he might sort the defence out a little bit if they slip up not sure about the parts of the field.

We lost 2 leaders at the same time in Barron and Tinks, i'm not saying they shouldnt have left, but there qualities haven't really been replaced.

Thats one of the reasons Turner said he wanted Healy for, maybe just maybe he will be looking for someone with leadership qualities too.

Sadly Boland is a long way away from fitness s stated by Turner on BBC Tees last night. I haven't seen freddy play so I am just basing his appearance on what has been said by others..... i am also presuming that James Browns lack of appearances means that he is not quite ready to start although there is still a week to go.....

Christ it's about time to ditch boland, he's been injured for the best part of a year now.

If he was a young kid at 21 with bags of potential i could understand but he's 34, time to let go.

I've never known anyone get so this much of a chance to get fit.

Yeah we should never have given Gordon Watson a chance either

Thanks but i meant at pools.

I fail too see the point in us waiting about for someone who even if he does prove his fitness, will prob only give us another year anyway.

If it was owen hargreaves then yes wait about for him cos he's ellish, but it's willie boland, 34.

I know it'll never happen though!

Watson joined at 31 and could actually run and kick a ball when he signed.

He played 1 season pretty much without any injures.

I know you have a secret love affair with boland and believe in the 270 minutes he played last season that he was the nuts but it's time to end it tree, he's past it.

Same team id go with, im not holding hopes for players coming in. Once they do then great but while no one else has signed no point in including them. I thought Boland was pretty much done for good and doubt he will ever play for Pools again.

Boland has been consistently injured for the past ten years though, the chance of getting him playing every week is remote. You can't compare him and Watson as their injury records were very different.

Turner in his first spell as manager always liked the 3-5-2 formation, i can actually see that working quite well with the squad we (almost) have

-------------------------Flinders-------------------

----------------Collins------Clark------Hartley-----------------

McSweeney--------------------------------------New Left back/wing back

-----------------Liddle----Sweeney---Jones-----------------------

------------------------Brown----Boyd---------------------------

Interesting. I was castigated last year for saying that Humphreys was past it but not one of you have selected him. Mind you, ADG and Gremmlin/Poolpower haven't posted yet.

I think it's more to do with the fact Humphs is out for at least six weeks.

Was thinking similar myself but didnt dare post it. Dont think we can afford to leave Monky out though and he does ok in the middle. Jones...Monky....Fredriksen for me however. Maybe even Humps could play wing back?? bbolt
