I think that side is good and with one or 2 additions (a midfielder and a left back) the yes i do feel that squad will be in a good way to improve on our position from last season!!!

Lets all be positive for a change and get behind the management and the players instead of slating them all the time!!!

Im afraid not. Without any cartwheel signings I think we will struggle. A few could additions could make all the difference however.

You would presume if he was not good enough for the loids......

The first whinge of the season before any one puts up any sort of report.

We could , for example have had 99% of the game so far and been hit with a lucky breakaway but don't let that stop a moan. banghead banghead banghead

I could not give a damn if we have been unlucky. If we have had 99% of the play then we should have made it count against non-league opposition surely?

Useless fecking bounders. There will be plenty more moans until we get the team sorted out too.

To be fair same could be said for this team that only drew with York a couple weeks ago

(first-half): Ankergren, Richardson, Parker, Douglas, Bayly, Huntington, Prutton, Sweeney, Beckford, Weston, Hughes.

(second-half): Martin, Gardner, Sheehan, Michalik, Westlake, Kilkenny, Howson, Johnson (Elliott 87), Carole, Showunmi, A Robinson.

You can all work out which team it is.

This is worrying. Looks like Fredriksen may be used as a central midfielder this season (looked very good there against Sheff Wed) and I also think Liddle me be played more at centre back than midfield this season.

So in my opinion thats pretty close to the team that will start the season. Cant believe we have signed 7 players and yet still we need at least 3 more.

If thats the case Tree then surely the finger can't be pointed at Turner.

He's signed 7 players and missed out on 2 that we know of.

He's clearly making an effort to sort out a shit squad he inherited.

Going by the match report then again Fredriksen was the star man for us. I dunno about anyone else but out of all the signings, I was expecting the least from him. Sounds like a good signing so far.

I agree he is trying but so far the new signings (especially those at the back) are leaving a lot to be desired.

Also has Cook had any playing time so far? Surely if he is going to be number 2 then some minutes on the pitch would be a good idea?

I'm concerned that Turner hasn't strengthened the defence significantly enough by this point. We need at least two additions there otherwise that first month is looking very difficult.

Quick text report from someone there, and this verbatim.

Very poor. Fairly solid at back early doors, not much up front,no danger to their defence. 2nd half subs made no difference, not 1 shot on target.will struggle this season big time.

The players he has signed though were surely signed to start in the first 11, Hartley, Flinders, the lad from Darlo and we're still conceding goals!

The side are shiit and CT will take us down unfortunately. It was always going to happen appointing a loser like him and it serves us right to be honest. We got away with it last year but without a Joel Porter our current side is piss poor.

You guys can all call me a negative w*nker [I know there will be an influx of such posts  ] but there is not many positive things to say about the current state of our team.

Turner out ASAP. Get a manager in who can attract decent players.

As I said it was verbatim I wasnt there so wont do what other's do and have a go at the team obviously the Mail differ's from him. The reason I dont have a go when I not seen the match. I just put up someone else's views, which I stated in my post.

Not arguing, just pointing out you can't believe everything you read on here, somebody who was there claiming we didn't have a shot on target, which is clearly not true.

I'm worried, the only positive I can take is these defeats aren't costing us points and we are seeing early enough that we still need to add more quality to the squad. If I had to chose when to lose four games in a row, it would be before the season starts. I won't judge any new signing until the league season starts, but we need more quality in even if it's just to replace the players who are getting injured.

i dont think we are cut and dried relegated, however 4 games with 4 defeats, conceding at least 2 every match certainly wont be doing the confidence any good. We dont even sound like were gelling. Now without our 2 main centre backs for a while by the looks of it, it sturning into a bit of a nightmare, isnt it?

I tried doing an update from my mobile but everytime I posted I got the "you may want to review your post" message and then my battery ran out.

Fredriksen was probably the most creative. McSweeney was quite good in the first half but lost his way in the second and kept swearing at the linesman.

We had a few shots. It was quite even in the first half but they dominated the second half.

The trailist left back looked short of confidence. The trailist striker seemed to only try in the first 5 minutes and wasn't involved for the rest of the game.

Flinders looked OK apart from a moment in the second half where he got tackled by a York player.

A slightly disappointing performance but it's not the end of the world.

Posted this elsewhere, thought I'd add it here:

Turner was trying 2 things out tonight. First half he played both Sweeney and Fredriksen in a very deep role and invited York on, Boyd was positioned on the edge of the centre circle incase of any breaks, we had a couple of good chances but it was a shame Collins went off because Hartley was having a cracking game at left back. Lamplough came on and you could have easily added "sy" onto the end of his name. Pretty poor.

Second half Turner replaced Boyd with Mackay and tried out direct football, the ball was being hoofed forward to Behan and the full backs were rushing up to get in support to the wingers, hence why we got countered.

Their first goal was a good finish, our left back turned their player inside, a square ball follwed by a hopeful shot crept between 2 defenders and into the corner. Their 2nd was right at the death and came after all of our subs had been made, they had a corner which bounced around in the box and fluked its way into the goal.

Positives:

Hartley was quality at full back and Lidds did well in central defence. Collins dominated in the air and the wingplay was good. Star of the show was Fredriksen who made some fantastic tackles, wasn't afraid to take players on and although his shooting was a bit wayward he had a go. The triallist forward looked to be good, very tall but thin, had a couple of half chances.

Negatives:

Sweeney was terrible aside from one shot, Mackay came on at half time and added nothing, we had a good chance when the ball dropped over his shoulder but instead of hitting it he decided to play in foley to the corner flag! The left back that came on was awful, seemed to be trying too hard instead of doing the simple things.

Overall it was the usual pre-season fayre, I'd like to see Boyd given a more advanced role instead of him having to link the play. Turner played it this way to see how we'd cope holding onto a lead I think, perhaps we should get a lead first before trying that!

All in all not a disaster, we lost the game but as for finding out certain things it gave food for thought. Turner still has one tactic to try out this preseason and that is flowing attacking football played on the deck...please say we've got that in our locker?!

You must be heartbroken then

Its nothing at all like pot, kettle, black. I actually comment and give my opinion on what ever the thread is about. ie adding something-its what message boards are about. Where as you simply post to have a go at people and ruin threads.

Christ you lot do my head in. rage

It's been a long close season and I'm looking forward to the new season with OPTOMISIUM.

You lot have us relegated and Turner sacked before a ball has been kicked. I'll give him the 10 games as usual and wait patiently.

Remember 2001/2002 when we were bottom of the league in October and made the play-offs. Anything can happen over 46 games. Let me remind you who the Manager was....Chris Turner.

Give the team and the man a chance before commiting "hari-kiri" rolfl
