the point is its no big deal and people are acting like IOR have just arse raped them or something (yes, ridiculous exaggeration was intended).

People are simply looking for ways to moan about the club. Its in their genes to find faults for they are pricks, pure and simple.

Well said.

They deserve arse raping.

Except Tree.

Cos he'd enjoy it.

Just because people want to criticise aspects of the club this doesn't make them pricks. If anything it makes you a prick for not listening to their point and just labelling them a prick. No-one is making a big deal about it, it's just one thread. There's only one person here trying to turn it into a big deal.

and it just so happens that its a certain person who constantly criticises everything to do with the club no matter what it is. Youre also making the assumption that i disagree with what tree has said, i actually agree with him however i wouldnt class it as a balls up and it certainly shouldnt be bothering anyone to the extent that it is. As i say i see someone constantly calling the club and never giving them any credit, and in my eyes that makes them a prick.

At the end of the day ( bbolt ) Pools will have lost out on some revenue due to not bringing the kit out sooner (this is a FACT - inevitably the longer a product is on sale the more you will sell) As Tree rightly says, the mere fact is that a few hundred Pools fans will have had their birthday during the summer and Im sure a high number of them would have received the new Pools top had it been available. Some of these people would probably not splash out £40 of their own money on themselves but would be more than happy to receive a Pools shirt as a present.

I dont see the point of arguing here, there is nothing to argue about. I bet over 90% of teams bring out a new strip earlier in the Summer to increase revenue. Pools, to their cost, dont.

Can we just stop all this stupid bickering, the bunker has been fine over the summer and now once the talk switches back to Pools, it is just getting arsey again. Its the same every fecking season.

Im sure a lot of you will argue with yourself given half a chance.

Yeah lets bring out a new kit when everyone is broke and during the worst financial month of the year.

A toy company, a band or even another football club wouldnt do that!

This club is ran by idiots, morons or midgits or summit.

Even a moron could spell midget correctly though

Send them your CV and a covering letter asking for a job in marketing; it could take a while for them to find a magnifying glass large enough to read it off the back of the stamp it is written upon mind you!

Probably 2. There will be a 3 month wait for more to be in stock once gone.

It's probably a matter of budgetting. Pools have little income after the end of the season until the season ticket money starts rolling in, but their outgoings, match day apart stay the same.

Therefore they don't have a wad to splash out on new kit for the club shop. Bear in mind that 80% of their income goes on players wages, which still have to be paid all summer, even though there's nowt coming in.

So probably, around now is when they have the cash to pay for new stock.

Easy peasy and a damned sight wiser than someone who'd watch the income go down and yet increase the expenditure.

So who's the daft bounder now??

- You if you believe what you just said!!

Budgeting is about planning in advance!!. The club know that they will be guaranteed to sell a set number of season tickets to generate funds and if they are budgeting properly then funds to produce a number of shirts should be available early summer to generate more sales and more money for the club. The clubs funds should be organised in a way to generate maximum profits and failure to release a new strip earlier imo does not achieve this.

Other clubs bring out strips early for a reason, Harold Hornsey managed it too! The take up on the light blue and white strip which was brought out on the last game of the season (I think it was against Mansfield with buddy getting a hat trick) was huge. You could not turn a street corner around hartlepool that summer without seeing someone wearing it.

The fact is that it is about forward planning and as we all know, the club can very rarely be praised for this!

i will be getting a new top no matter when its released as i imagine will the vast majority of people. So the question is how many people now wont be getting one who would have if they had been released 2 weeks ago. I imagine it will be less than 20 people. Hardly a dent in anyones profits.

What about grave in two posts before yours he made the same points we have made all the way through this thread, granted he put his point accross better but he was agreeing with us.

And to be honest anyone who thinks that having the shirt on sale longer will not result in more sales due to people buying for birthday presents in the close season is living in a dream world

can I just say mr b you said that it would be around 20 people and thats not a dent in anyones profits, granted its only around £800, but a loss is still a loss.

I work in biologicals sales and if i went to my boss and said I had lost a £800 sale due to bad planning and not getting in their one month earlier with a tender do you think he would be happy?

mr compo you are assuming that we make 100% profit there which im pretty sure we dont. We probably only make 15-20 quid profit each shirt. Now obviously thats around 400 which is not to be sneezed at. But i hardly call that a marketing disaster.

i dont think there would be MORE sales in the sense that your meaning it. I think there would be the same amount of sales overall but were being sold earlier. For example i reckon either way there is a ceiling to how many people would want one no matter when it was released. Over the 2 year period it will be on sale, they will still sell the same amount no matter when it was released.

sorry I dont agree, I have never bought the home kit for years but would have been tempted if went on the holland tour or on holiday in the close season and I am sure others feel the same way

i dont think there would be MORE sales in the sense that your meaning it.

Did you go on the Holland tour or on holiday before it was released?

No but the point I am making is other people would feel the same as me, like others on here have clearly said their birthdays, holidays have gone and already went into shop to buy season ticket so they wont be buying one.

I have never once said this was a disaster, it isnt and I know this, but it has lost the club money as is anothe example how the marketing department at pools coud find their arse with both hands. Look at the centenery year and how brilliant that was.

Do you have to get the present on your birthday?

Isn't it possible for a grown man (or woman) to say I'll wait for me pressie, like?

Well they weren't wearing it in the ground were they?? If you're talking about the 1995/6 season, the average attendance was just about 2000, including away fans. We grossed 1077 attendance against Cardiff and came in under 2000 on 11 occasions out of 23.

So even if the entire Pools support was wearing them, it'd be about 1600 people. Massive takeup my posterior. I'm willing to bet that more than 1600 of the new shirts get sold and it's nowt to do with when they're released. Where did you live then?? Clarence Road??

Back then there may have been fewer supporters but thats not to say that extra revenue wasnt made by bringing the strip out early. All im saying is that there was a LOT of people wearing that strip during the summer. People are more likely to buy a shirt before the summer has kicked in and holidays have been taken.

That's exactly my point, there is absolutely no proof or even evidence of that. Fair to say that most people don't view football shirts as essential holiday wear in hundreds of resorts around the world among millions of tourists.

In order to bring in the revenue, you have to speculate on bringing the stock in and wait for it to sell. Dead stock is dead money. Some might buy early some definitely won't. Thinking that people will be queueing round the ground because there's new shirts in the shop is ludicrous.

Why do you think 'pre-order' is the new rock'n'roll?? Because then they know how many of what sizes to order and what revenue will be generated with minimal unsold stock. Think about what your Tesco club card tells the supermarket. It's the same system.
