Don't quote me but I think if your TV is not connected to an external cable/aerial/satellite, probably not.

As far as I am aware, if you have any equipment capaple of receiving TV signals (i.e. a TV tuner card in your PC) then legally, you will have to pay for a TV License. If you are purely streaming off a website then I don't know about that.

Your freeview box is television receiver equipment and the tv licensing authority say you have to have a licence to use it.

When you but a pc containing a tv card you often have to sign the declaration in store to say that you have a tv license. If you currently dont have one then completing the form results in your being sent a reminder to get one. Not sure how it relates to website streaming.

I think the key point is if you watch things in real-time. If you are watching the programmes as they are being broadcast then you need a license no matter what.

The Answer is YES.

Read your TV Licence form and it tells you. They even say MOBILE TV on your mobile needs a TV Licence I think I read. Amazing.

Aye, thought I was right.....

Do I need a TV Licence?

You must be covered by a valid TV Licence if you watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV. It makes no difference what equipment you use - whether it’s a laptop, PC, mobile phone, digital box, DVD recorder or a TV set - you still need a licence.

You do not need a TV Licence to view video clips on the internet, as long as what you are viewing is not being shown on TV at the same time as you are viewing it.

If you use a digital box with a hi-fi system, or another device that can only be used to produce sounds and can't display TV programmes, and you don't install or use any other TV receiving equipment, you don't need a TV Licence.
