Can't answer Mr Ripper's question, but interestingly my sister would make exactly the same point about people.

Love dogs.....got a cross between a German Shepherd and a Collie - called Caffrey.
I was out this morning for an hour, 7 til 8, got fucking drenched and loved it. Every morning, every night and every daytime if I'n not at work. We go hunting and exploring, down the dene or down the beach
Next time up I'm getting a lurcher.
Dogs are the business, as long as they jump over walls, chew up sticks and are not the size of cats

I got a Doberman called Xena and not only is she a good pet she is also very good at removing unwanted kids from my garden, getting rid of unwanted visitors from my door and scaring the crap outta the postman.

I also have a cat called Lucy who beats the hell out of the dog.

Dogs ....? we had a dog, but when the second bairn was born, it turned nasty .... and at the end of the day, it's a dog. It ended up at the Dognitas Clinic so to speak.

We don't have any pets but the bairn is convinced he's a dog. He'll fetch things, chews the couch, barks, whines, slashes everywhere, will eat anything and chases cats.

There's a new pet shop opening near me soon, that specialises in exotic animals. I fancy getting a skink or a gecko or something, as our lass draws the line at snakes (apart from the one-eyed variety). They don't take much looking after and they're a bit more interesting than stick insects.
