London Theatre tickets

Can anyone recommend a website for purchasing the above said item. Cheaper the better obviously :wink:

. Me and our lass are going down in September (was meant to be a surprise bday for me) and ive been informed we going to see Grease on the friday night.
However I would like to go and see something of my choice on the saturday.

It's cheaper to just buy them at the theatre earlier on the day, it depends on how particular you are about seeing a certain show.

Went to see Jersey Boys - absolutely great - bought tickets at the theatre on the morning - the box office guy advised us to buy the cheapest as there is an excellent view from the upper circle - £20.00 per ticket. When we arrived for the show the upper circle was closed - and we were upgraded to £80.00 seats as the management does not like to have empty seats in the stalls and the dress circle!! This must be common practice as the same thing happened in Las Vegas when wife and daughter went to see Barry Manilow.

Ripper, if you're taking your lass away for a 'special' weekend then I'm assuming that you don't want to take her to see a show and plant her in crap seats where she can't see much?

That being the case then buy them from the theatre box office on t'internet. Have a good study of the seating plan as you book and pay the top prices. To my mind theres no point going to the trouble of a west end show and then skimping £20 for it to spoil the night.

However with regards the specifics in the original post...

For example, last time I took Mrs R down London she wanted to see Joseph so I booked the tickets in advance, top dollar ones, cracking view etc for the Friday night. For the Saturday night we just went on spec and picked up tickets for another show direct from the theatre and actually got the upgrade like above ending up three rows from the front!

Try and aim for the front of the stalls or near the front of the royal circles.

Alternatively go to the half price ticket office in leicester square (the one that is stand alone opposite moon under water) on the day and you may get lucky although its risky.

Phantom is still the best show. Saw wicked the other day, which is about the two witches in Oz, it was good but not great.

As someone said above the show at the gielgud theatre called Avenue Q I think is meant to be brilliant, like a dirty, adult version of sesame street.

ps, Grease is shiit unfortunately - I got dragged there before! The only plus is that there will be loads of nice young ladies around!

Thats what they used to do to the naughty lads at school, they obviously got their eye on you :grin:

I saw Blood brothers last year - knew nothing about it before I went in and thought it was fan-fooking-tastic. Try the box office in Leicester square on the day though, you'll definately get a good deal.
