I know we have a bloke on trial at the moment, though I believe he isnt actually a left back.

But as we have no real left back at the club, isnt it somewhat worrying that we seem to be trialing for one, in the hope that we get one?

I have no problem with having players on trial, but not as the way to get a first choice left back.

The first league game is 3 weeks on saturday.

I got told we were in talks with dan harding to fill the space at left back but he doesnt want to move up north, so if this is true it does show that the management is trying. We want to make sure we get soemone of quality and not just sign someone quickly who is not going to be good enough.

I don't think it's worrying that we're trialing for one, if anything its showing the club is trying it's best to fill the left back position.

The rose deal went tits up... Pools fault? Doesn't sound it.

We may have enquired about 50 left backs we may have enquired about 5, who knows?

I know it doesn't make for good messageboard moaning but pools could be trying there hardest to sign a left back for all we know.

Well thanks for that.

The point still stands.

Isnt it worrying that with a little over 3 weeks till the season starts, we havent got a left back at the club?

I know the club are trying......and we know they were let down.............so what?

They should have a plan b to z. And the defence.................all of it..............should be sorted weekd before the first league game.

So thats about now.....................like.

All of the back four and keeper need to get to understand the formation, each other etc.

After lasts seasons comedy back four, I would have thought this should have been priority A. It seems not.

plan a was expected to go through for several weeks only for the player to change his mind a week or so ago. Pools will then have go through the whole process again. It wouldnt suprise me if we signed one a few days after they come back from holland. Im more concerned with the defensive midfielder situation...

He's still got that extra yard upstairs in his positional sense, he doesn't need to be quick much like Teddy Sheringham in that respect*

He can still play at this level.

*Even though that bloke isn't even called Hartley, he was asking for the book 'Fly Fishing- By J R Hartley' and he's not even real it's an advert from about 20 years ago. So your joke doesn't even work Grave, so their.

Fook knows I was a child when that advert was on, I didn't get satire then.

That damned bounder Hartley has made me look stupid now, we definitely need a new left back.

Did he play? sctatchinghead

The official site had him in the team named before the match, but didn't include a team in the match report. Were there any changes? The Echo says he played, while the Peterlee and District Mail listed Sharples at left back and didn't have Ulvestad playing at all.

I didn't see him.

The number 3 on the highlights seemed to have a goatee beard, Sharples is a young lad isn't he? I'd be impressed if a youth could achieve such impressive beard growth.
