I would reckon it could be the road from Dalton to the cross roads at Elwick Road, or indeed there is a lane that goes from near the A19 down to Brierton way.

The Mail has named him as Kevin Bratt, 51 yrs old.
When I read it on the BBC website I took Dalton Back Road to be the road from Dalton Piercy that comes out on the A689 near Greatham.

Can be a bit naughty down there, as some drivers try to relive the round Britain rally.

nasty road that just slightly too narrow and people dont realise or care and fly along. the man was hit by a red suzuki, it was just on the right hand corner going up the hil heading towards dalton after the quad bike and fishing place turnoff

Yes, that's Dalton Back Lane.

Coincidentally, I walked up that lane when I was out for some exercise a week earlier on the Saturday. I walked along Catcote Road out to the 689 at Greatham, then up Dalton Back Lane to Dalton Piercy and over the fields to Summerhill and home. First time I've done that route for ages and normally if I walked to DP I would go up past Brierton and only cover the top half of Dalton Back Lane as the bottom half (nearer the 689) has a couple of blind corners. Jeez, makes you think. sadx confised

When I was a bit younger I used to run from Naisberry Park, along Elwick Road and Catcote Road, along the cinder path near Greatham, along the 689 across Dalton Back Lane and down home from Elwick crossroads. The mere thought of it now scares me, I don't think I'd enjoy walking that far!

Frigging hell, I cycle along that road at least three/four times a week on my bike, sometimes right the way along to Dalton and then up to Hart, and other times back home through Brierton Farm and Summerhill. In fact I went along there on Saturday come to think of it...what time did the accident happen?

I was back home by then.............I see plenty of cyclists on that road, we all tend to acknowledge each other as we pass....if he was a regular cyclist I'll have almost certainly seen him along there
