After glancing through 'From Tears To Cheers' Ritchie Humphreys Promotion Diary, our win against Carlisle on New Years Day 2003 took us to 50 points, just three more than we have now. I know we have won 9 in a row (which is nice) but i'd have still thought that we'd have had more points than that seen as we where top.

I think you'll find we've played a game more than we had then -- 26 against 25 -- but that doesn't take anything away from the achievement.

This is the third most fruitful season we've ever had at this stage in as far as you can compare like with like (there hasn't always been 46 games).

-- in 2002/2003 our record was 16 wins and five draws.
-- in 1956/1957 it was 15 wins and five draws.
-- this season it's 14 wins and five draws.
-- in 1967/1968 it was 13 wins and five draws.

And our lowest finish in those other three seasons was third.
