I thought it was a minimum three months validity, this confirms it.

I came to Qatar with only a month left on mine and renewed it at the British Embassy here.

I guess it's whether or not you think it's risky.

I'm pretty sure you will be ok, as long as you return before the passport expires, you will probably get some custom's gadgy tutting and shaking his head, but as long as it hasn't expired your ok, otherwise what's the point of having an expiry date.

"This evidence can take the form of a valid national passport or national identity card. Either is acceptable. Passports held by EU nationals need only be valid upon entry to and exit from Spain."

ote: EU nationals are only required to produce evidence of their EU nationality and identity in order to be admitted to any EU Member State. This evidence can take the form of a valid national passport or national identity card. Either is acceptable. Passports held by EU nationals need only be valid upon entry to and exit from Spain. Possession of a return ticket, any length of validity on their document, sufficient funds for the length of their proposed visit should not be imposed.

i would agree mutters although i would have renewed but given the short timescale and the fact they are calling all renewals in for interview i would go and renew on return

To save any potential worry Mr Mutley I'd just change it.

It's going to be on your mind going to the airport then again when you come home so whatever it costs (which seems to have gone up loads in recent years) it's probably worth it. No need to worry for 10 years after that anyway, mind by then he/she should be able to pay for it themselves

It only takes one arsey fooker having a bad day on the check in desk to spoil your holiday.

Nothing to worry about in that sense, the old credit crunch has seen to that my mate renewed his not so long back and had it through his letterbox in less than a week.

They guarantee it within a couple of weeks at any time of the year.

I reckon in that case you'd get it even quicker, and that would suggest that they aren't very busy if they have the time to do that!

when we renewed the daughters we just used the post office check and send, they also say on their website that it is more likely that an adult will be called into prove their identity, another thing when we first got the daughters first passport it was only valid for five years and you had to send a more up to date photo for the second five years(which then was free)

And if they won't accept a VALID yes VALID passport once you get to the UK, just tell them to suck dick and be fookin' quick about it.

Yes you should be OK, the expiry date is the expiry date and it's valid at the time of your return. They won't refuse her for ALMOST being out of date. However if you're worried you can get a passport renewed on the day if you go to the passport office in person, pay a bit extra and hang about for a couple of hours. If it's in Durham all the better, random day out!!

You might even see Mrs Grabec flying about on her broomstick.

The cost of a child passport

A first child passport costs £46 for standard service and £81 for the one-week Fast Track service. The Premium service is not available.

Renewing a child passport costs £46 for standard service, £81 for the one-week Fast Track service and £94 for the one-day Premium service.

You can find detailed information in the section 'Passport fees, how long it takes and urgent applications'.

not cheap for a trip to durham

Of course, you know why passports went up mentally right??

The dear old jolly Government wanted to raise the money to pay for ID cards. They withdrew the funding for overseas embassies which used to come from passports and said they have to raise their own funds selling visas for the UK. The cost of visas has gone up similarly mentally ever since.

Of course, now we aren't having ID cards, the cost of passports and visas will come down right??

Right?? :-o

Oh... sadx

Well, the wrong bit is true. The price won't come down, but passports and driving licences are apparently going to be used as 'data-collectors' in exactly the same way as ID cards were planned to be. The system won't be compulsory, you can opt out ............provided you never want to leave the country or drive a car.

Of course that's only if Labour get back in........

It's just another way of the post office making money and compensating for there millions and millions of pounds worth of losses over the years.

I think the PO service is only to make sure you've enclosed the right documents and completed the right sections. Saves the Passport Office having to send your forms back to be done 'properly'.

Of course, if they used plain English and explicit instructions in the first place, more people would understand which bits of the forms they were supposed to fill in.

Granted it's a nice check for us, but should it really cost us £7?
