Just ignore it.
It's a bit like school Latin...you spend half an hour translating half a sentence only to find you've been 'told' something you'd have been very happy not knowing, ever.

If you dont like text speak then why dont u do that thing where if someones types it then it changes to "im a wanker" when it posts?

Just like with Newell, Goffy or rulesisrules or whatever.

They could always use tomato ketchup, as in Hitchcock et al.
It might calm Compo down a bit if his blood was diluted.

Boils me piss to buggery

Seriously, do schools and polytechnics actually bother teaching the basics of grammar and punctuation anymore?

No, mainly because the majority of teachers are thick.

To be fair, you would expect texters to use a few short-cuts and abbreviations. Just that I can't be bothered to learn them.

cough cough

From Collins Dictionary:

Quote:
In British English, the spelling anymore is usually considered incorrect, and any more is used instead.

BUT...

From Montpoolier to Collins:

Call yourselves a dictionary. In any form of English, the above sentence is bad grammar. It contains two separate statements that have no reason to be spliced together. Also, there should be quotation marks around the spelt words:
"In British English, the spelling 'anymore' is usually considered incorrect; 'any more' is used instead".

I always thought these were quotation marks" " not these' ' which I thought were apostrophes,
(dons tin helmet and awaits onslaught).

Single and double quotes, Mr Raff.
An apostrophe (as in the word it’s) just happens to look the same as a closing single quote ’

Don't worry; I'll keep yer right.

You use single quotes when you're already inside double quotes - or vice versa!
See, the style dictated by British publishers is single quotes on the outside and doubles on the inside; in the US it's the opposite, which seems more logical to me. Damn Brits!

Anyone who uses text speak on this site will be doused in petrol and set alight in their bed the following night. You have been warned!

Dousing you in petrol would cost at least 400 snodgers ((c)Mutley) at current pump prices.
