Frankly Ronnie Barker would be a better signing - he is about as quick as Richie Barker!

Who would you sign a 22 year old who has bagged 5 and has some movement or a 31 year old plank with no movement and is also scoring.

Its a no brainer - Duffy will get better whereas Barker is going downhill. Do not sign him Mr Hodcroft - remember I warned you about a certain M Proctor - who coincientally played up front with R Barker in a misfiring Rotherham attack a few years ago.

Maybe we have to sacrifice Strachan, a sad loss, Darren Williams, no loss, and just persevere with Jon Daly who remember is only 23 / 24 and will get better with coaching and break the bank for Duffy. I know I would - or does Richie, who is playing really well and who I would be against selling, have to be sacrificed also for Duffy!

NO NO NO to Barker.

Barker has scored nearly 40 goals in a season and a half in this league.

Barkers record speaks for itself,

He knows were the net is... Duffy might be out of pools price range but we shall see.

To be fair though the chances that they created were easily dealt with Dimi and the defence. I paniced only twice, the first was when their forward flew past Barron and shot across the face of the goal, the second was right at the end when their sub tried a cheeky back heel at the near post which Dimi done well to get down to.

Bit hard to tell, he got himself into a few good positions, won a few headers and wasn't afraid to shoot. It would be unfair to judge him on one game though.

Although he did nothing special today, he reminded me a bit of Gordon Watson. Solid stocky and not afraid to put it about in the box. He also scores hatfuls of goals year in year out.

Of course Duffy is first choice but if thats not possible then Barker is probably the back up plan. We could of course sign both.

Back in the 70's Manchester City were walking the league until they decided to sign a certain Rodney Marsh, needless to say their rich vein of form came to an end and subsequently didn't win the title.

More recently Kevin Keegans Newcastle side were running away with the league 14 points clear at one stage, then they decided to sighn a certain Tino Asprilla, needles to say this co-incided with the side and inclusion of Tino in the starting eleven and subsequently The Mags failed to go on to win the title.

At the moment Pools are flying the last thing they want is disruption of a winning side, so personally do we really need a Richie Barker? Let's try our hardest to land Duffy and Monkhouse!

PS 9 straight wins, and not conceding for in 8!! I still can't believe it..what an unbelievable run!

I agree, but as you imply elsewhere in your post, the disruption might not be of our making.
With no Duffy or Monkhouse will we have the players to continue the run of form?

I want Duffy and I want Monkhouse. Monkhouse may already be in the bag, otherwise surely he'd be at Swindon now. Perhaps he told Sturrock to stick it when he got recalled, he is out of contract at the end of the season after all and could Swindon afford to pay him to play in the reserves?? Not according to all reports of their parlous financial situation. If Danny Wilson is as cute as I think he is, he's told Monkhouse to tell Strachan that he'll have to drop the fee below the level of six months wages or pay the bigger amount and have less budget available. Still with me??

Duffy isn't wanted at Hull at a guess, but Falkirk might be attractive as he'll be nearer home. get him a limo up to Edinburgh and an expensive prostitute every Saturday night. Owt to keep him happy. :sweet: :sweet: :sweet:

Richie Barker?? Well if he's scoring that many in a shite team like Mansfield, he'll soar with a chance creating team like us. But how many strikers do we want??

only worrying thing i see is richie barker doesnt seem to want to leave mansfield and is being forced out. will he still try his hardest for any new club confised if he doesnt want to be there
