Isn't it too hot to have the heating on?

To run: It's cheap supposedly. I can't say as household bills are the wife's domain. But as we (and probably you,) already have CH it's a probably not that much different.

If your CH is already at capacity it's a reasonable option.

It's expensive to buy, installation is easy for a tiler/sparky. The cheaper stuff is not so good so it pays to buy the good stuff if you're putting tiles/wood floor down.

It's is really nice tho. Especially in the winter.

Because I feckin hate the sight of radiators and I have a combined sun room and conservatory which measures about 6m x 3m and a rad doesn't cut it. I have been in a couple of places that have the underfloor and its thermostaically controlled, out of sight and warm. I am about to have a new tiled floor laid and now would be an ideal time to do it (heating).
So if its quality and IF I can afford it then it must be worth it.
GOD do you ever stop being all QSy

There are two different types, electric and hot water fed.

I have experience of electric only and the result was patchy.

The installation of the electric system needs to be done by someone who knows how to do it, to little attention to detail and installation will leave the floor with cold spots.

If you have thick floor tiles installed it can take a while to heat up, which makes it expensive.

There is nothing like a warm floor on a cold morning but I doubt it was really worth it.

You'll need a sparky to fit the sensor/thremostat but it'd not a big job and the rest is just laying it out.

We've got the same size sunroom as you with tiles down and the it's perfect for the job.

Ours is fine. No cold spots and it's much more even heat than radiators. It's only the first time you spark it up that takes time. We leave it on the thermostat and that works a treat. we've got a good 25m2 of it and I've never heard any grief yet about the bills.

The solid floor electric type used to be be run on economy seven which runs overnight on a white meter. It heats the floor up on cheap electricity during the night and the theory is that you get the benefit of the heat through the day.

Trouble is that by the time you're ready to sit down in the evening most of the heat has dissipated. It wasn't good in me Mothers house.

I've seen some enormous bills for people who have it in. Mainly down to the timers. The night rate for usage on Economy 7 is about a quarter of 'standard' prices, but the day rates are usually about 25% hgher than standard.

are you wanting electric or hot water undetrfloor heating ?

I done my full downstairs in hot water underfloor heating and its expensive to buy and fit but cheap to run. If you call in Travis Perkins they have a electric underfloor heating on display on the counter, ask for John Rooke he will keep you right he is a fellow Bunkerite.
