According to the snail Tubby is going on holiday next week, should this be happening at this time of the close season, if he ties up there four signings then I would say he has done his bit well signing a lot of players in a short time but why stop there and take time off at a crutial stage on the close season with people rejecting contracts etc.

Like you said compilation it depends on if he gets the 4 signings in and what positions.

He can always be on the dog and bone whilst he is away, i know vodafone are scrapping roaming charges now so he can go to ibiza and club it up if he likes, there is always that other dude, Ian someone, who can discuss transfer deals, and Colin West could still be here.

I am sure he has already discounted Nelson re-signing and if he does it is a "bonus" so no probs there with out of contract players.

Come on you can keep in contact from the middle of the desert these days so a week in Magaluf or where ever will not hold up any transfer moves..

He's only going to Crimdon anyway - he can always get back through border controls if he has a visa...

most transfers normally happen after july 1st anyway as this is when the window re-opens so there is still more than enough time to sort things out. You know turner could have made 7 yes SEVEN signings before he goes on holiday and yet some people still have the nerve to question the validity of a holiday! Beggars belief if you ask me!

Of course he should go on holiday. All he'll do is identify said targets, once that's done there are plenty of people around to sort out getting contracts signed and the like.

Plus as has already been mentioned, telecommunication technology has moved a fair bit recently, I'm sure he can be contacted if need be.

This issue has cropped up in previous seasons where our managers have gone on holiday during mid season? While I agree that it is undesirable given that we need to be signing players I suppose there are few other appropriate times for a manager to go away on holiday. Having said that I think I would prefer CT to be at the club during contract talks etc and take a holiday during the season when the squad are all sorted and an assistant could do the job of picking the team.

We do not have a good record of signing players midseason in recent years like.

Yes and leave the new manager who ever he is in charge.

He may not be the one who actually discusses terms, that may be the CE or even chairman. CT's input may be identifying the player's he wants and the actual wages etc offered by one of the two I have mentioned, so he may not necessarilly have to be present.
