Thats a shame really but as Turner says maybe it is the right time for him to move on. At one stage last season he was looking like he was finally finding some consistency but then he got injured and couldn't cement his place back in the team.

I hope he gets a club sorted and does well wherever he goes clappp

Can't blame him, he's an exciting player but has suffered from being played out of position, the crowd on his back, better wingers infront of him, lack of confidence and lack of final ball.

I think he needs a fresh start and has done for a few years.

He must be at least 37 now but is still regarded as a young prospect.

Professional suicide similar to that committed by Jim Provett. Perhaps a contract with the Loids beckons.

Robson isnt good enough. End of.

He has had more chances to establish himself in the team than anyone in the history of the club. He always falls short, after starting brightly.

And if he has rejected a contract......tell him to foook off.

Chris Turner is referred too as director of sport in that article, is that a sign he won't be manager?

37 is a typo isnt it, I know he seems like he been around for years but he cant be older than 24/25. Mind you a few more years with us and he could have got a testiminial game signed around 2002.

an impact player who barely made an impact most of the time. The odd mazy run the odd wonder goal. Didnt do enough for me. Plenty thought he should be released and its no big deal that he is going. I think we are guaranteed money for him because of his age. All the best matty

He's 24 now i believe, so we won't get a penny for him as he's over 23.

Spot on, there will be hundreds of out of contract footballers floating around this summer, he may well have something else lined up, but if he doesn't, a silly mistake I think.

Good luck to him though, unless he lines up against us of course.

I could only ever see him at a club in the top end of league two or bottom of league one.

To his credit he does have a promotion on his cv and i could see a few clubs at least offering him a trial.

Just didn't manage to make his impression, this season, though.

At his best, he could terrorise anybody on that flank.

I have heard an (admittedly solitary) rumour that he's signed already for another club managed by someone who knows his game very well.

Can't see what Hull City see in him like.

Can you all stop speaking in code and tell us who he is going too?

Is it hull or somewhere near hull?

That does narrow it down to about 9 teams.

I can't post the name of the team but reading between the lines it's a team that contains the following letters not necessarily in this order;

NWINDOS TOWN

My rumour is not near Hull so rule those 9 teams out, if they are in league 1 include us, thats 10 you have 14 left to choose from, as my rumour is a team in league 1 .

Are you sure someone didn't say "go to hell"?

If you say it in a thick yorkie cloggy type accent it could be misconstrued.

I'm sure we'll find out shortly.

Best of luck to him anyway, although not against us of course.

The rumour I heard (and this must have been about 3 or 4 months ago) was another ex-Pools boss currently managing a team in League Two, which is very close to Hull.

There isn't a football league team within 25 miles of Hull unless you take a ship to Grimsby. But Grimsby don't have a manager who knows Pools players, do they? sctatchinghead

I think we should stop beating *roundabout* the bush.

Can only wish him the best of luck in the future but if Pools do aim to move forward players of Robson's ability aren't good enough for us. Even as a squad player.

I've always like Matty a lot and would have liked him to stay.
The thread started off by naming Nelse and Liddle.....surely many of the anti comments about Matty could equally have been made (but weren't) about those two?

I've always found myself sticking up for Matty. He's been slammed a lot.

He's a useful player who tries hard but isn't good enough to be in our first 11 at the moment.

He's been in and out of the side for a while now. Consistency is his main problem, he needs to be more consistent if he wants to become a decent League 1 player. He needs a new challenge because the challenge of overtaking Monkhouse as our number 1 left winger was going to be a bit to steep for him this season.

If he's rejected us without having a deal lined up then I think he's made a mistake, I hope I'm wrong. Lots of players will be struggling to find clubs this year with the current economic climate.

If he does sign for Grimsby then I'll be gobsmacked as he's obviously much better than them.

Good luck Matty Robson.

sctatchinghead sctatchinghead Well if he is not good enough for us (currently a poor 1st division side) then surely he cant do THAT much better than Grimsby sctatchinghead There are not that many northern clubs in between us on the league 'ladder'

Hope you get a club quickly and get the regular football on left wing like you never really had here.

Grimsby almost got relegated to the conference. If Luton hadn't have had their points deduction then they would have.

Yeah but there is not an abundance of sides which he could have realistically joined, he was never going to join a club better than Pools. Hopefully he will at least get a regular game at Grimsby, one plus of going to a poor team I suppose - a step back to take two steps forward possibly.
