I was saying about teams in pools division next year and ex premier league teams,

Have swindon and oldham been in premier league as I think they have, is you could put a link up that would be great

Yes they have. As have Leeds, Charlton, Southampton and Charlton. Six in all.

I got into football in 1990, premier league was created in 92, so if i've been 'brainwashed' it's cos really i know no different.

Some people on here can't help being younger than 45 you know.

Now help me understand why top flight teams pre-1992 don't count.

no one's said they don't, but the question was about premier league teams.

To me it's not that they don't count, i just wasn't alive, or too busy playing hide n seek in west view circa 1989 to really worry about them.

I would suggest it was because the creation of the Premier League changed the face of football. Not necessarily a chage for good in my opinion. It was the start of the widening of the gap between the top flight and the rest, a financial gap that in now a chasm rather than a gap. Leeds, Southampton, etc. all took the money and didn't give a stuff about the rest of us. Let's face it, in their opinion they were never going to be joining us. Well, they are here now, even if it is for a short time, and I am happier to read about the misfortunes of former Premier League Clubs than clubs who have never left the Football League.

I notice Man Yoo have won a "record equalling 18th top flight title". (They have no problem remembering the Football league for that boast do they.) Well I'm sorry Man Yoo. You resigned from the league so your premiership wins don't count.
