So 4 players have to be home grown from a match day squad of 18 players, so they can still have 14 johnny foreigners in the squad :roll:

No, they can still have 18 non-British players as long as they have all been registered domestically for 3 years. A complete con...

The way i read it was that players had to be registered at the club from being 18 years old as they have to be registerd for 3 years before they reach the age of 21, so the likes of Ronaldo couldn't be classed as home grown

Clubs would always find a way around it anyway.

Tap up foreigners at 16 (Fabregas, macheda etc) then by the time they are ready to play and are decent they are classed as british citizens.

Or sign em up, loan em out for a few years whilst they become 'home grown', then bring em back, job done.
