I remember watching it, as it happened, a tragic day.

Your heart just sinks when you think of what happened - frightening and tragic.

It's all right; you're also allowed to celebrate good stuff.

It was approximately five years before the birth of POK. Does he have to trawl stuff like this to indulge in another attention seeking excercise. Everyone has the right, but really...

My aim was not to seek attention, Frodraff, it was to reflect on the horrible loss in yet another tragic football stadium disaster and look at how far professional football has come 24 years on.

I may not have been born at the time of the fire, but I still know because of the repercussions that match had - The Taylor Report which forced 'Pools to re-build the Mill House Stand etc.

It didn't even exist then - I saw one of the DVDs from the 90s MadJohn sent and watched the derby against Darlo 16 years ago. I saw just two dugouts with white huts but no stand there.

The Taylor report did a good job of anticipating the Hillsborough disaster then, didn't it. Or maybe the Hillsborough disaster managed to slip in between Bradford and Taylor. confised

I remember when it was opened. A PROPER stand at Pools for the first time.
We still all went in the Rink End like.

I considered being really cruel here but decided that it's only a message board and I've got more to worry about than this.

I stand corrected, then.

But the Report still meant things had to change dramatically at all football grounds in terms of safety and it changed the Vic for the better.

I think you'll find it was Harold Hornsey who changed the Vic for the better.

Well, in terms of what the thread was originally about, which was about the Bradford City fire, that's by the by.

There's no doubt though that Harold Hornsey was a great chairman for the Club, even if I don't remember much about him.

Hartlepool owe everything to Harold Hornsey, he is a legend in my eyes, do we have anything to remember him by in the club as I am unsure?
