I woudn't agree actually 3Quid, Nelson pound for pound cost £70,000 Ritchie was a free.

Ritchie is in his 6th season, Nelson his fourth. Until this season Ritchie had played every game until this season, Nelse did have that little carry on regarding a new contract back in 2004/2005...

Micky Nelson is quality don't get me wrong one of my favorite all time Pools players, but never have Hartlepool United signed a better player/person on a free than Ritchie Humphreys.. God Save The Queen!!

I completely accept that he has been a huge part of the success of this club over recent years but he was also part of our downfall. He has been a great player on the pitch but was very mediocre last season. He was one of the great motivators then one of the great conspirators. This season he started badly and has now got it together again. He did throw his rattle out of the pram over the cooper affair but the positives far outweigh the negatives.

On the plus side is that I do believe he cares deeply about this club and the supporters and I will never forget that he turned up to sign hundreds of those CD's when one of our other 'stars' Mr Boyd couldn't be bothered. RH sat there all that night and never left until everyone who wanted a signed CD had one. These are not the actions of someone who has less than 100% commitment.

His run in the team is a remarkable feat and I'm pleased for him that he had his day in the sun. On balance he has achieved more than Micky Nelson in his time here and overall has been more a more important player regardless of fee . Over the years we have been far better off with him than without him Having not witnessed ever player that has signed for the club, I can't say that he has been "pound for pound, the best signing Pools have ever made" I would have to agree that he has to be in the top 10 at worst.
