If not whats the point, as Manchester will become the place where people can sign up for an ID card soon, they cost £30-£60 and noone will pay that so why not just scrap the idea as I cant see what help if any it will bring to the population.

it's all a con it's like the photo driving licence it only lasts for so long, you have to change it because of the photo after so many years it might not show a true likeness,in other words you've aged

I am very skeptical about this thing as a whole its not like DNA database etc were used for crimes I see a future down the line that will consist of us all having one of these cards and then the government can dictate what they like. They will come up with measures like well why don’t we link bank transactions to the cards, therefore you need a card for every transaction, they will word it like why have 4 cards when you only need one but that allows people to keep tabs on you. Also this will result in there only being electronic money and organizations (banks) can stop this easily therefore removing the power from the individual and centralizing it as a whole.

All I can say is people, do not even dream of cooperating with any such scheme. There is no conceivable way it can benefit you. By encouraging the ruling gestapo you are eroding the civil rights of your fellow citizens and deserve going to jail and being tortured.

Hopefully Manchester will give this idea the V sign. I can't see anyone in his right mind splashing out seventy quid on a valueless piece of paper.

it's optional, but come the revolution you'll have one, if you know what's good for you.

It won't.... but the British are the sort of people who don't go in for that sort of thing. In wartime, fair enough, but unlike othrt Europeans who've experienced occupation, we haven't and thankfully are not very compliant to this sort of thing anyway. It's just not our way of doing things.
