What will have to be left outside the stadium next .....no derogatory comments, no criticism ...we can all just clap warmly and reduce football to all the passion of a game of P.C. croquet..

if people want to bring a flag with their team's name painted across it and put it where nobody gets their views impeded or the adverts don't get blocked (from a club's perspective there) then WTF right has Arsenal got to stop this? There SHOULD be f-uc-king riots over this and Arsenal will fully deserve it.

Arsenal are only confirming what we suspected all along.
That they can no longer in any way be described as an English club.

I wonder to what extent their suporters realise they're being screwed over?

"Arsenal as a club prides itself on being inclusive with respect to all nationalities, cultural and ethnic groups," read a club statement.

Unles of course you are English, oh wait, they have Theo Walcott

if Arsenal's new ground hosts an England international match in future, would the English flag still not be allowed on the premises?

[quote="chip fireball"]why would i take an england flag to a pools game ??? everyone with half a brain knows hartlepool is in england. i can understand taking a scarf to keep you warm, but why take a flag ? take that to its logical conclusion and you would need to take a headland flag, a pools flag, and england flag, a british flag, and an eec flag. bonkers.

Nobody needs to take a flag Chip, but they should be allowed to should they so desire, Arsenal are not allowing that freedom of choice, take that to its logical conclusion and only official Arsenal flags will be allowed in, and where would you buy one from? Arsenal, and then other clubs will no doubt follow suit, no doubt then the man utds of the world will bring out as many 'official flags' as shirts. What if someone complains about visiting supporters shirts will they ban them too?

"arsenal are the only other team in england i would pay money to watch. they are not breaking any rules by not having any english players. until the powers that be change those rules, cant see why people are complaining."

Are suggesting that because someone is not breaking any rules that the rules are therefore 'right' and no one should complain?

Taking that to its logical conclusion then, if the rules were changed then you would agree with them?

Change the rules then, simple

logically, a flag in a football ground is about as much use as an ironing board. and from what i can gather nobody has banned ironing boards yet. perhaps i should lobby the f.a. with a list of things that also need banning from football stadia. tents would be another one.

errr... and my point was....

As soon as I saw this I was reminded of Baker and Kelly Up Front, the phone-in show on 5 Live a few years back. It could get incredibly surreal, and one of the threads for a while was bizarre things that had been confiscated or not allowed in grounds, inspired by an officious steward that had told Danny Baker that he wasn't allowed to take some Stimorol Chewing Gum in "beacause it's got Cannabis in it".... items included someone's bottle of medication, a breast pump, and one Scots bloke recounted the tale of how he went to a game in full Highland dress and was told he had to remove his Dirk (the dagger thing in the sock, usually blunt) which he did happily.... as they neglected to search his Sporran which had a half bottle of Scotch in it!

Flags are OK providing that they're not getting in the way of watching the match.

That bollard looks a bit oxidised. It need sandblasting then painting with a rust inhibitor followed by a red oxide type covering in order to stop a reoccurence of the problem.
